IDK about the 6-2, but I imagine Carly sees the floor a bit, even just to serve - she seems to have a decent one (.38 SAPS last season and .34 the season before).
Also CSC Academic All-District. Captain. Team MVP. I like her.

I also find it hard to believe another year in the 6-2. Sheffield said several times in the past couple of years that he preferred the 5-1 and the 6-2 was Ashburn and Hammill's idea, which he went along with. I assume it will be 5-1 with Fuerbringer as the "1". The first few games are going to be challenging, but it will be worth it. Watching Fuerbringer in the UA All-American game was fun; she is so offensive-minded and did all sorts of things you don't normally see from a college setter (I do appreciate its high school and some of those things likely not going to work in college).

My guess is they keep the 6-2 in the playbook; if nothing else, it could be a situational sub and it's not like it's going to take the players a ton of time to learn; the coaches will want players to get reps with Anderson, Anderson doesn't actually have to learn anything new (6-2 really just looks like half of a 5-1 to the setters) and we have the personnel. And - if we keep it in the playbook, they're going to run it out once or twice, just to be sure of how it will work. If we struggle with Charlie in a 5-1, we might even see it for an extended period. But yeah, I agree that the 5-1 is where we want to be come November. Fuerbringer brings a lot to the table and will be a better blocker than Ashburn was (and weirdly, MJ rarely ever saw the front row).

This is the problem when you get so many studs from the portal/on the team in general. You have too much talent it seems you *HAVE* to run a 6-2. When was the last time a 6-2 team won the Natty? For some reason they never work out... if sheffield wants to run the 5-1... someone out of the Smrek/Crawford/Booth/Robinson is going to be unhappy

With Anderson in... this is a solid commitment for (S)... IMHO, she's already better than the Ash/MJ... location, being sneaky, more fiery, experienced, and a tough server. Love having her for Spring and to push Charlie in the summer/fall.
BINGO needs to be another OH.... hopefully, a young incoming stud Frosh who realizes the opportunity (and being backlogged at her first choice!) to play or a GS that wants to compete for a Natty.
Maybe, just maybe, a current star Jr. in HS is looking to leave a year early and start college... Eggleston type.

From The Milwaukee Journal this PM:
Montana coach Allison Lawrence praised Anderson's development in a press release announcing the team's all-conference selections in November.
"She poses multiple threats and really her growth this year, she has gained so much in strength and speed where she has always had really solid fundamentals but her ability to be strong and physical throughout rallies has only made her more deceptive and more of an offensive threat," the coach said. "It gives her the ability to make more-and-more aggressive decisions in all parts of her game."

What he said repeatedly was that a 6-2 was the best use of the talent given the roster. MJ and Izzy were just amenable, and decided to forgo setting in a 5-1 over summer. There is no way MJ and Izzy had control over what Sheff decided to do.

For some reason they never work out... if sheffield wants to run the 5-1... someone out of the Smrek/Crawford/Booth/Robinson is going to be unhappy I feel like I have to say this every year. You don't see many 6-2s winning the NC because so few teams run a 6-2. You have to have the personnel for it to make sense and most teams don't have the personnel. One of the main things you need is two relatively similar setters. Despite that Pitt went to the final 4 in 2021 and 2022 with a version of the 6-2 and UW did the same this year. A lot fewer than 25% of teams run a 6-2 yet 25% of the teams in the final 4 the last three years ran one. UWs problem wasn't the 6-2 per se the last two years. It was serve receive - a problem they didn't have in 2021.

It occurs to me that 2 liberos could really help us next year. GG is a great libero except on service reception, and so when she starts struggling with passing we simply put the second libero in there in reception. Main thing though is we need to have at least two other smalls we feel good about since our opposite is going to need a DS too

I was only thinking a GS, and didn’t appreciate the other two possibilities as being realistic this late in high school recruiting.

Or are either of these possible for above suggestion?
