If I didn't know better Goetz and Williams were both told they probably would not be in the starting rotation next season. Bultema is really athletic and I believe will perform at a high level.

I'm really high on Bultema, but Goetzinger was our best middle attacker and Williams was the best blocker although she didn't play a ton. Both can be replaced, however, and really looking forward to Bultema getting her chance next year.
Last years freshmen class could end up one of Kentucky's best.

Pretty surprising both Williams and Goetzinger went into the portal when playing time was wide open next year. Would love to replace them with both Mendelson and Kjolhede. Those two plus Bultema would make for a really solid middle group. We don't know if an additional scholarship year was offered to Goetz. Also, Williams was in the same class as Skinner and Rebo. She already spent four years at UK, I don't blame her wanting to spend 2 more elsewhere.
I highly doubt we get Mendelson AND Kjolhede. I also don't want Bultema on the bench next year.

I'm not sure who's all on scholarship so that could easily be the case. Going into the season with only two middles would be a concern though in case of an injury. Dailey could fill in I guess but I don't think that would be great for our success.

williams is not in skinner and rebos class lol, she came in with grome and Beavin in 2021 |

But agree, it would be great to get Blackwell/Mendelson/Kjolhede and a solid back-up, even just so we can try out the most options on the RS.

williams is not in skinner and rebos class lol, she came in with grome and Beavin in 2021 OOPS, yes, my bad. I tossed her in the other class with top 10 recruits.

Ok. Hear me out... what if McKenna Vicini transfers to UK for her grad year? Solid block, even if we can get Mendelson or Kjolhede she would be a great back up.

Savannah Kjolhede is following the entire UK roster now + coaching staff + support staff. Hope this is foreshadowing we get a commitment soon..

Scratch Mendelson off the board. All signs point to Kjolhede joining Kentucky, but I still think we need more help to make a deep run next season.

A DS who can attack out of the backrow...hmm She played OH in club that’s why many were shocked she was chosen as a DS/L for the UA game. Agreed it seems controversial. She’s never really played DS/L in club, though she plays all-around as an OH and is a talented player on the court. Off the court she has MUCH to learn about being kind and a good teammate. Politics got her in the UA roster as a DS/L I’m sure. |
