Last season the Huskers had 3 Freshman in full-time starting roles that helped take them to the National Finals. Next season Nebraska will be able to choose between 3 top Freshman or Redshirt Freshman to fill the one open pin position. I know that the Husker coaching staff won't be afraid to start one of these youngsters if they are able to fill the role and I have confidence the staff will know whether or not they are able. Let's not count Ryan Hunter out from being an excellent 4-year starter on the right side. Ryan has tons of talent and ability, plus it would be nice to have a leftie playing the right side again. There is no reason to believe Martin would be interested leaving Florida let alone come to Nebraska. I think you are combining the 25 and 26 recruiting classes. The 25 class, which is arriving in Jan: Campbell Flynn S Teyara Sigler OH Ryan Hunter OPP Keri Leimbach L/DS Manaia Ogbechie MB More pertinent to the 24 and 25 seasons, but especially 24: will Landfair continue to grow in effectiveness and confidence. This is 24. Enjoy it. NE is off to a great start and looking prime time. GBR

Three freshmen/rs freshmen are Pierce, Hunter and Sigler and they will compete for the open pin spot (opp) (and/or Landfair’s OH spot.) Agree we should stay in the present, which is a very fun ‘24.

considering it was a joke given Nebraska had just swept Wisconsin and Texas lost their 4th straight, it shouldn’t be taken so literal. I could give a %*$# less about 2025 nor am I ever concerned about Nebraska’s ability to out recruit, well, anyone… Piss off I’ll talk about whatever I want to talk that pertains to Nebraska volleyball on a Nebraska forum. Go to Kentucky. Or San Diego. Or Pitt. Or whoever else you’ll want to bandwagon on to next.. you just love that band wagon line. As if it’s some brutal scorching insult 😭 like it’s not the burn you think it is. not trying to make it a burn…it’s just reality.

I'm ready for her to drop the hammer on a consistent basis. Love watching her play. Also predicting manaia moves to a pin one day. Has anyone seen her play OH? It's something quite spectacular ✨️. So glad she's a husker. I'm still good with her as a mb.

So I thought I read somewhere that Landfair was coming back next year? So why would there be an extra pin slot?

So I thought I read somewhere that Landfair was coming back next year? So why would there be an extra pin slot? Not sure what you mean by extra. But Beason graduates, so you're left with some stuff to figure out. As of now our pin options will be: Landfair (grad senior) Harper (junior) Pierce (redshirt freshman) Sigler (true freshman) Hunter (true freshman) tons of talent there, but in the competitive environment we're in, if an experienced and proven opposite enters the portal it wouldn't be surprising for us to try to get them on board for a year or two. Also, 5 pins is still on the smaller end compared to some teams. One more wouldn't be unreasonable.

Five is definitely a small number, especially compared to a team like Texas, which seems to have a dozen pin options. I don't know how Elliott manages so many players. Nebraska is either going to the portal next year for another right-side option, or one of the other players is going to have to move over there (my guess would be Pierce). I suppose it is possible Hunter will come in and be great and nail down the starting OPP spot on day 1, but I wouldn't bet money on it.

I am wondering if Landfair might play OPP next year: 2 rotations on the RS and 1 on the LS. It seems her weakness is bettering an OOS set, and that's what LS hitters get a lot of: OOS sets. Actually wonder about that this year yet. Beason is good at bettering poor sets, better than Landfair or Krause IMO. Also with both Beason and Rodreguiz leaving, expect the 2nd LS pin hitter to play more than 3 rotations. Both Pierce and Sigler are likely better 6 RO than Landfair.

On the other hand, especially if the scholarship number allowance increases, NE will likely seek a transfer or 2, with OPP seemingly being the #1 need. If the scholarship # increases, that would likely increase transfer portal activity IMO.

NE looking at a tough road trip this week to OR and WA. Playing very good, ranked teams at sites they are unfamiliar with. A bit different from the usual B1G road trip due to distance, time and lack of familiarity. A very good test for the team; a big challenge and learning experience.
GBR!
