Would Maisie have gotten significant playing time if she went to another school? Was she highly recruited or did she literally walk into UNL and ask cook for a tryout?

She did more setting in HS than defense. Good player but maybe someone that would play for a decent mid-major.

Am I misremembering, or did Merb look much more dominant going into the post season last year? Watching several other B1G teams this past week, and there are just SO many pins who are on fire. And she’s not really one of them.
Not that she’s playing poorly, but just not standing out at all in my mind. Someone reassure me 😆

Just my observation, it appears that Laney has improved her accuracy and consistency passing and digging, although maybe stats will prove me wrong. She still makes those acrobatic digs/saves, but more effectively.

Amie Just, sports reporter for the Lincoln JournalStar, turns 30 today. She asked a number of people around Nebraska athletics what they wish they knew or did when they turned 30. I quoted the answers that would be of interest to VT. Cook is, as usual, a bit out there. Buying property isn't easy at 30, whether that be as an investment or a home. And it's getting more difficult. Larson's answer really resonated with me. I learned this at about age 30 as well. I've cut several people out of my life that are not good for me, and it's been a good decision each time. It's uncomfortable cutting ties with someone, and it leaves a hole in your life for a while, but that goes away, and my experience has always been a net positive. Link to articleJOHN COOK Role now: Head volleyball coach at Nebraska Turned 30: 1986 Role then: Teaching and coaching at Francis Parker School in San Diego What he wishes he did when he was 30:“Hard to remember when I was 30, but buy property.”
JORDAN LARSON Role now: assistant coach for Nebraska volleyball Turned 30: 2016 Role then: Outside hitter for the U.S. National Team and Ezcacibasi Vitra. What she wishes she knew when she was 30: “You can't force others to see the world as you do. Sometimes, the best you can do is walk away from situations that don't suit you in the most respectful way.”
LINDSAY PETERSON Role now: Director of Operations for Nebraska volleyball Turned 30: 2011 Role then: same as present What she wishes she knew when she was 30: “One thing I wish I knew when I was 30 is to be where your feet are instead of always looking forward to the next thing or five or 10 years down the road. It’s so important to live in the present and appreciate everything life has to offer at that moment in time.”
NATE POHLEN Role now: Associate Communications Director for Nebraska volleyball Turned 30: 2017 Role then: same as present What he wishes he knew when he was 30: “As you get older you will look back and reminisce on all of the life experiences and memories you've created with your family and friends and wish you had more of them. You won't remember — at least not positively — all of the things that distracted you from living in the present moment.”

Nice advice from Lindsay Peterson too. I've been so impressed by her on The Dig--extremely well spoken and knowledgeable. My impression is she's an important part of the program's success.

I've sent e-mails to Lindsay a few times over the years and her responses have always been timely and helpful. She's a great asset for the Nebraska VB program!

On property buying, if you do not have the $$ to buy actual property, then invest in equities (stocks, ETFs and/or mutual funds). This does not take big $$. I think discount brokers have minimums of $50-100, and no transaction fees. It has worked well for me. Open a Roth IRA, all earnings are tax free and you can remove your principal tax free to buy your home. Invest conservatively and diversify. Worked well for me.

I've interacted with Lindsay quite a bit over the years. She has 30 hours in her day, she is always pleasant, she always delivers (exceeds expectations) and does everything like... now. I don't know how she had time for a rando like me, with all her Husker responsibilities, on top of raising four boys (and a husband). Lindsay is a gem. We are lucky to have her.

If you look up herfirst100k she has amazing advice for first time investors, and even $100 adds up over time, which is what the youth have in full supply.
