Did anyone else feel bad that Lindsay and Layla didn't play? IDK, I know it was a big match but they are both good enough to be on the team, so why not let them play a series?

I felt bad for them, but have to think if they had to choose between playing and a win it's pretty clear what the choice would be. I'm NOT saying Nebraska would have lost if they played, but beating Wisconsin has to feel pretty good.

Some people were talking about it on the way out of Devaney too. I’m hoping Cook/staff had talked with them about it prior and that they get to play against Maryland

They’ll have chances to play in Rounds 1-4 of the NCAA Tournament in Lincoln. Nebraska just happened to get a ranked opponent as its last home match of the regular season. If it was Rutgers or even Wisconsin next year (and likely the years to come), more bench players would see the court.

It's crazy talking about Krause like she's some scrub. The gap between Landfair and Krause is small if any. Aside from a great West Coast trip Landfair hasn't been lighting it on fire. She's hitting .248 on the year to Krause's .251. They have similar block numbers and Krause's serve is a true weapon. Landfair gets more kills but also errors way more. And frankly Landfair's OOS swings can be so painful to watch. Some of those down balls over seriously look like what I used to watch in middle school matches. The coaching staff obviously feels Landfair is the best option and she's shown the ability to be terminal. But people on here talking about Krause playing only if we were playing outmatched opponents or her not playing is because this is D1 and not high school are tripping.

I'm gonna go on a limb and think choboy snags that libero jersey next season. Her passing is close to where it needs to be right now and her defensive touches are too important not to be on the court as much as possible. If she can get her passing numbers even more improved it would be hard not to see her win that spot. Mauch is clearly well able to win that as well, but choboy has gotten much better throughout this season in so many ways. Every time she's on the court, her presence matters and helps the team. These are 2 elite back court players. Congrats to Nebraska. Just wow. Leimbach coming in also. Cook on one of the shows last week was saying that what Lexi and JWO have in common is they are slow twich players. They aren't the most naturally athletic and therefore need to make reads and slow everything down. Lexi is amazing but you can see it at times when there are cross court shots that she doesn't even react to. She's obviously quick enough but her superpower is ability to read and position. Choboy is a fast twich player. Most of what she does is insanely quick reaction. It's most evident in her serve receive. She's a very noisy serve receiver. I don't think she reads serves particularly well and reacts to the serve instead. There is so much movement when she receives it may put a ceiling on how good she can get, although admittedly she's still very good despite this. If she can learn to slow down she could be next level.

Would of loved to see Blackwell and Krause get playing time, but I didn't expect it, unless the starters stumbled. They didn't. Both Allick and Landfair had good games. WI is too good to allow opportunities to come back. You don't change what is working.

The sets were all too close for Cook to play either Leyla and Linda. The 3rd set was all tied up at 14 until we ended on a 11-3 run. Maybe Cook could’ve put them in during that run but I wouldn’t have. I’m sure both of them would have wanted the W over playing time. Hoping they get to play though against Maryland to end the regular season.

senior night aside,
I still think its weird they dont use lindsey as a serving sub at all.
yes i know there's injury concerns for the other OH. but at that point you put Leyla in and then get creative with whoever you used Krause to serve for.

I’ve always said Linda should be our serving sub lol. She’s one of our best servers.

If there are volleyball gods, a player like Lexi Rodriguez deserves a national championship. 2 runner up finishes, all American all 4 years and doing it with upmost character and class…
Here’s to hoping the stars align.

I just rewatched this match last night. If you zero in your focus on Reilly there is lots to discuss for cook and coaching staff. Her blocking, defense and ability to read defense and get a feel for the game is pretty darn good. But... location and tempo has become quite messy for most of our hitters. Her connection with jackson has downgraded. She is really limiting landfair as a weapon. And she puts beason in lots of unwinnable situations.
If nebraska wants a national title match attempt THIS MUST BE FIGURED OUT. When they get pushed, this will become the difference maker in the win or loss.
I would grade Reilly at a "C" these past 8 matches on location. If I'm the Nebraska staff.. I'm spending EVERY PRACTICE cleaning this up. I counted 19 misattempts this match that could/should have resulted in kills/points. That's too many for a national title contending team.
A good way to put this..... Rodriguez shouldnt be leading landfair on kill assists... that needs to be Reillys job.

Anyone else see Lindsay Krause's dad whining about Merritt taking the captain spot on a video of her crying in the post-game presser last night? I'm mortified for Lindsay
