So what is a BYU projected line up? Good question. I'd have to think, but off the top of my head: OH1: Erin Livingston OH2: Claire Little MB1: Mia Lee MB2: Brielle Kemavor/Kjersti Strong OPP: Kate Prior S: Silina Damuni or Alex Bower L: No idea, really. Same for DS, as both Hiapo and McComber graduated. Kaieva Johnson is transferring in from Utah, would she be of any help to the DS position maybe?

The current ones on the roster are Brielle Miller, Hannah Billeter, Lulu Uluave and Johnson.

Badger - it depends on who you listen to on the Johnson girl. Her club owner says she is slow and damaged and that BYU only recruited her as a practice player. B Miller is the top choice of that same club coach therefore she should be the heir to the Libero position if he is to be believed and listened to on the recruiting. I don't think Billiter can trans to the Libero. The wildcard is Lulu, the new comer that Heather hopes will start at L. It will be interesting. I hope that carrying so many pin hitters and not enough passers isn't going to come back and bite them. I am nervous.

A pair of BY-Ute spring matches have been revealed. Meh - Utah is scheduling worse than I thought they would. I can see a match with BYU (not 2) but the local community college? What is going on? D'Errico and Beth are trying to put the program into a steeper decline and they are succeeding. BYU should do only 1 match with Utah. If I were them I wouldn't play another B12 team until conference!

Do the bowers just reproduce via mitosis? A plausible hypothesis.

Hmm, kind of interesting that they're going to Las Vegas instead of playing another Utah school.

That scrimmage is probably better forgotten. Utah won all four sets rather easily. It would not surprise at all if Jardine has a really nice year (all Big-12) this Fall.
BYU struggled. I am definitely not going to do much of a recap.
Passsing: it was bad. BYU's best hope is that Uluave comes in and is awesome. Billeter and Miller both got time and Libero; both struggled. Johnson got time at DS; she struggled more. Livingston played some six rotation. She struggled too. Little's was ok.
Setting: I'm not going to say much since the passing was so bad. Alex Bower set most of the time though. 2.5 sets in a 5-1 and 1/2 set in a 6-2 with Thunstrom. Thunstrom and Damini ran a 6-2 in set three. So it seems like Alex Bower is the presumptive starter. Given the passing, I'm reserving judgment.
Not sure it's worth talking about hitting or other stuff.

Honestly, I wouldn't read too much into an exhibition, much less one in March. The season doesn't start for nearly six more months. I seem to recall Utah also beating BYU in a scrimmage prior to the spring 2021 season. But when the season actually happened, BYU was better. And I'd be saying the same thing even if BYU blew Utah off the floor in the scrimmage. Exhibition games don't actually matter. We need real matches to see.
