Did she get fired or was it just that her contract was not renewed? Article says it was up this year. She was fired. Rumor has it they found out she was interviewing at other schools. We knew she was interviewing at other schools. That wasn't it. The problem is the football NIL collective/general fundraising isn't where it needs to be, so the new chancellor is bringing in their own AD. Which is fine, except no one really trusts the new chancellor yet, and the last time we got a new chancellor who brought in their own AD, the instructions to the AD were to only care about football, who made a coaching hire that left men's basketball a toxic waste that took 20 million dollars to clean up. It's bittersweet. ADHL was generally liked by everyone. She got the non-revenue programs that can be good to be great (VB, Men's Soccer, Women's Soccer). Men's basketball is decent. Women's basketball is a mess, but it's been a mess for a while. And football won the ACC three years ago. Except football somehow has to complete in a world where there is $20 million dollar a year juggernaut three hours west of us. We're probably never going to get onto Ohio State's level, but we're also not even close to average in the ACC. This is the first women's team at Pitt to get a number 1 ranking in any sport. So for her to get canned on what was supposed to be such a triumphant day is weird. |

Lucky for VB that Heather was there when PSU came knocking. Sounds like the focus is revenue sports and another AD would be not interested in keeping Fisher.

If any AD is smart they would start paying Fisher, I don't know how many schools would want to out bid Pitt who's going to be looking for a coach soon

If any AD is smart they would start paying Fisher, I don't know how many schools would want to out bid Pitt who's going to be looking for a coach soon after the last 4 seasons, ADHL pulled the Brinks truck up to Fish's house. Now the only coaches paid more than him (we think) are Cook and Elliott. Any AD is going to have a hard time justifying not paying him what he is paid. Getting to 3 straight final fours is very much noticed. |

Do you know what his salary is? Sheffield's is also pretty high. I think Fisher is still a tad lower.
I know Pitt is a Commonwealth school that doesn't feel like it is subject to open records requests.

I know Pitt is a Commonwealth school that doesn't feel like it is subject to open records requests. Fisher had a base in 2023 of $614k, but incentives pushed him up a lot. Pitt is actually fairly transparent with it's top earners. It doesn't have to give as much information as it does (such as Penn State), but knows for Pitt, it's not worth the hassle of fighting FOIA's and the rancor that comes with it. It's not that big a deal to us. |

Pitt on a west coast swing to USC, Pepperdine and UCSB this week. I wonder if Pitt fans will outnumber USC fans at Galen? Why are people so fascinated with crowd sizes.. Its Los Angeles, people have better things to do than drive an hour to watch volleyball live when you can watch it on TV or record it on your DVR.. Just saying.. |

It's just background noise to us. We're Pitt fans. There's a school near us that likes to brag about all its attendance trophies. It's really not that big a deal. |

VVG needs to stare down every time she gets a kill. HAIL 2 PITT How people don’t realize how good Fairbanks is baffles me. She’s a first team all American and has been in her age group USA squads. 3 straight final fours. She’s seen everything and been in so many big games. I don’t see Minor play, but as far as everyone else she’s head and shoulders above an anyone else in the ACC or the BIG. How much could she improve? Shes awesome. She could start as a hitter on 90 percent of D1 squads go check out when they ran a 6-2. |

Bre Kelly seems to be the difference-maker for this Pitt team. How did she end up at Pitt? What was the connection? Dan Fisher coached her (and Rachel Fairbanks) on the USA U-21 Pan Am team in 2023. You would assume that one or both of those people are the connection. |
