Sad day for Kyndal and for Baylor volleyball. She absolutely loves the program and has still been very involved, even coaching camps this week. It seems like the Baylor admin didn’t want to take any risks after all of the concussions which is probably not a bad call, though very very unfortunate. Wishing Kyndal the best wherever she lands, though my heart breaks not seeing her in the green and gold. It says a lot that she’s stayed with the program and vice versa throughout this whole process, wish it would’ve worked out for her in Waco. What an absolute loss for both Baylor and Kyndal. You can feel her love for Baylor in the post and her hope for her future. She's a beast on the court but more importantly a great role model and will be a great get for any team.

Baylor welcomes back Shelby Livingstone as an assistant coach, who previously served as a volunteer coach before coaching at Liberty. She is the daughter of Baylor President, Linda Livingstone. She takes the spot of Yajaira Cadet, who was with Baylor for 2 seasons.

Who is Baylor starting setter nowadays ? It’ll most likely be Jackie Barrett-Frazier. She is a grad transfer who was a 3 year starter at Auburn. But there is also Harley Kreck, a redshirt freshman, who was a top 25 recruit in her class. Baylor also has two other setters in Bri Denney and Emelyn Stettin on the roster, so it’s probably the position they have the most depth at.

I definitely missed this in the 2026 commit thread last week, but Baylor got another commitment from 5’11 setter, Abby Schoene out of Rockwood Thunder. She’s ranked as the #6 player and #1 setter out of the state of Missouri by PrepDig.

Coming to my personal journal (this thread) to manifest a successful season for the Baylor Bears. It very well may just be my green and gold colored lenses, but I have high expectations for this squad, as I'm sure does Coach McGuyre. This is the most experienced roster in the post-Pressley era after two youth-filled seasons.
The lead player this year will be Elise McGhee. @uofagrad drafting her in the fantasy league has really gotten me thinking about her development at Baylor. She has gone from playing sparingly as an opposite to being the offensive focus as a 6-rotation outside. In her last 9 matches of the season, she averaged 4.51 kills/set on a .332 hitting percentage. That included matches against TCU x2, Kansas, Houston, and the tourney matches vs. JMU and Kentucky. She also had 16 aces in that stretch, at .48 aces/set. Keep in mind, that before the Stowers injury, she was only averaging 3.16 kills/set and was hitting .194. Elise absolutely rose to the occasion and primed herself to be the leader of this team moving forward, and is very capable of being an All-American this year.
The key will be what production Baylor can get from the others around her and how much their blocking has improved in the offseason. If Barrett-Frazier can step in and establish a good connection with the hitters, Baylor very well could be pushing back into hosting contention. They certainly have opportunities on their schedule to make some statements and I trust Coach McGuyre to have his team ready to compete next week.

GOLD beat GREEN that bad??? damn was Jackie dishing or something!? Kreck switched to gold for the second and they won that one too and ended up winning the match 3-1. I didn't watch the second half of the match so I don't know if there were any other switches, but definitely surprising given that most of the starters were on green. Let's just say, Warren and McGhee passing together caused some trouble. They were also running a 6-2 though, so didn't have an extra DS on the court. Keene took some big swings on the outside for gold, and we may see her stay in for a half rotation for the OPP since the leftys often get stuck in rotation 1. Crain was the libero for gold but I don't think she is at the level yet of Keene or Ulufatu to take their spots, though if McGhee struggles at times, we may see Baylor use 3 DS's. Based on the little I saw from the scrimmage, my predicted lineup for opening day would be: OH: McGhee (Sr.) OH: Murphy (So.) MB: Bibinbe (Sr.) MB: Davis (So.) OPP: Sczech (Jr.) S: Barrett-Frazier (Gr.) DS: Keene (Jr.) DS: Ulufatu (So.) L: Briseno (Sr.) Coming off the bench as needed would be Warren (for Murphy), Carroll & Holden (for Sczech), Andrew (for Davis), Kreck (for Barrett-Frazier) and Crain, Stettin, or Lynch as potential serving specialists.
