How many OHs in the world would you say are playing better than 'fine' right now? Yeah, but does Plummer have the immunity idol for the Final Tribal Council? I think not. She has spent the entire club season at the side of the unquestioned Empress of Kumbaya…If anybody is good it’s her!

Yeah, but does Plummer have the immunity idol for the Final Tribal Council? I think not. I agree she has to prove herself - I just found the "she is playing fine" comment a little strange There are a lot of different possible combinations, but for me rn, it seems more about USAV/Karch/Player fickleness than about proving oneself.

Who is the most prominent “shes gonna be the next big thing”’to not make an Olympics? Was it Barboza? Looking at carlini prep/college career, back then I would have said you were insane if you told me she wasn’t make an Olympic roster once, let alone twice Folkl from Stanford, Cacciamani from Penn St (and maybe even Bonnie Bremner from that same team, although she was one year younger than Misty, but Misty went to beach really quick into her NT time) were considered locks by many. In fairness Cacciamani herself retired after college, right? There was no decision to leave her off any rosters.

I agree she has to prove herself - I just found the "she is playing fine" comment a little strange Why so strange? Plenty of players who played fine are left off the roster at all levels of volleyball, all the time. Let me spell it out for you. She’s not just playing FINE. You can admit she’s playing GREAT! Starter on the best team in the world and consistently scoring double digits. Why is it so hard to admit this? All these comments about her being only good when Wolosz setting her, when Kelsey and Moki are passing, when Haak is the opposite, when it’s not a do or die situation, etc. Even if she’s not gonna make the team (due to Karch’s system or a poor VNL performance), it doesn’t mean she’s not a great player or she didn’t have an outstanding year. The negativity we all have (including myself) on this board is really astonishing. I wish her the best (and Carlini too)….go TEAM USA! 🇺🇸

Doesn't matter how great she plays elsewhere, if she can't translate her great performance to the NT, then it doesn't really matter, does it?

if i’m not mistaken - the question mark with Plummer is that she has shown to perform stronger during club vs. the natl team because of “USA Fast.” if we can adjust tempo so it’s USA “quick” but not “fast” then maybe that will give her the full range of shots she was know for at Stanford.

Agreed. But is Karch willing to adjust his strategy just for Plummer? Because usually its the other way round, the individual player has to adjust to the playing style of the team. Personally, I would prefer a bit more flexibility from Karch to allow players like Plummer to maximize her potential. But I don't know if Karch is willing to do that for Plummer.

Plenty of players who played fine are left off the roster at all levels of volleyball, all the time. Because fine isn't usually a term people use to describe players who are playing in the top tier of their position in the entire world. My response had nothing to do with her being left off of a roster. You said the word 'playing' which means you are talking about currently. And currently, she is playing extremely well in comparison to the rest of the OHs in the world. Unless you're throughly unimpressed by the current play of women's OHs worldwide, I don't see why anyone who's watched her / looked at stats from this season would describe that level of play as fine. Maybe you have an extremely different interpretation of the word fine from the rest of society?

Like I just mentioned, she seem to have trouble translating her club performance to the NT. If she can't deliver the way she does at the club level to the NT, then her spot at Paris isn't a certainty. And certainly not a lock at this point.

I think we’ll have to see how well Poulter plays for her spot to be determined. She did bring USA to their first Olympic gold but hasn’t played competitively in a while, same for Larson. I think this VNL is going to be VERY competitive and interesting lol I dont know what the date is for submitting players for the OG, but if its during the VNL... they're going to ride or die with Poulter (and they probably were anyways). I saw that Hancock was voted captain for VNL… Not that it is set in stone, but do you think that helps secure a spot for her for the Olympic team? If she was voted by her teammates and all… I mean, that says something when it comes to final decision, no? (Unless she has a disastrous VNL) And with the recent footage we’ve seen of Poulter,… she looks back to her old playing ways pretty much…?

I think they change captains for every tournament since Larson's departure. JWO was it for one tournament too.
