I think the Louisville match will yield a lot more insight into how this group stacks up and where the weaknesses are. I'm particularly interested in how the soon-to-be sophomore Opposites are developing. They both have game and appear to be very good athletes. Consistent production from the right pin would be huge for this team. Same! Would love to see the offense become a little more spread out this year. Wollard is a fantastic right side blocker but I hope she and Anderson develop a stronger connection. Same with Heaney, who I hope is getting extra time in the weight room. I love her range of shots, but want to see more power in her swings. IMO, she has the biggest upside in terms of helping to make Purdue's offense better.

I was at the spring game!! They played 4, Purdue won 25-16, 25-15, 25,17, 25-15. My biggest note is that Sydney Yim was on crutches with a big bandage/wrap on her knee and was sitting behind the endline during the game. I hope she's able to recover before the season starts, as Allie Shondell was also in street clothes (Taylor Anderson was the only setter dressed). Starters were: S: Anderson OH: Hudson/Chicoine M: Colvin/Myers OPP: Wollard L: Hornung DS: McAleer Lineups moved around a bit, Heaney also got significant time at opp and I'm not sure if I can really say that one was better than the other. McAleer got the L jersey for game 3, but I think she passed better in the first two games at DS. I could definitely see her taking the jersey at some point during the season though, and her serve is wicked. Everyone got some playing time which was really nice to see, and wollard got some time on the right as well. Oh, I almost forgot to mention! They tried out the pink card "super point" thing, where once per set before 20 points, each team can show the pink card before the serve, and the next point is worth 2 regardless of who wins. It's kind of a gamble, and I don't know if I really like it (feels like it's meant to add more excitement, and I think volleyball is plenty exciting as is). It'll be interesting to see how the coaches feel about it. Chicoine and Hudson pretty much had their way hitting, but Butler isn't the tallest team/block. I will say that I really liked how smart Hudson/Chicoine were playing, placing the ball really well and tipping/rolling with pretty good success. On a side note, I was very impressed by Butler's setter, her hands were fantastic and she made some crazy plays. Let me know if there's anything in particular you're curious about! I hadn't heard about the Pink Card! Where can I read about this?

It is basically a gamble, and means that no matter the outcome of the point, the winning team gets 2 points instead of 1. They can only play this card before either team reaches 20 points.
I'm actually having some trouble finding any articles about it, but I did find this video from a team in the Indian professional league that might explain it as well.

Spring schedule only gimmick. Shondell said on his podcast the pro league in India is the only league that uses this rule. Just doing it for fun.

In the Indian league, the super point has to be played before a team reaches 11 points, according to the video. Hopefully the NCAA's aren't thinking of adopting this rule. It seems unnecessary.

Really liked what I saw from Hornung in the game against Louisville. It took her a moment, but she kept improving as the match went on.
Just need to work on that communication in serve receive. She had some great saves and was really aggressive out there.

Chloe Chicoine is dating Brian Waddell for starters. Shondell will absolutely be at this game as well.
