Late question, but what happened with Meliha? I was never a fan of her play, but with recent Hande injury it feels like Turkey could use a ball control specialist. Was Meliha not invited back, or did she decide to take this summer off? We really haven't seen her since Santarelli took over for Guidetti. |

Some players fell through that cracks but many more came back into the fold that had beef with Guidetti. Clearly those changes, along with the addition of Vargas were just what the team needed. |

U18 Asian Championship starts today! This tournament is for 2007 or younger generation. Top 4 in this tournament will qualify for the 2025 U19 World Championship. Contenders will still be Japan, China, Thailand, Korea. Japan won the Championship in this age group for the last 8 editions, with China almost always getting the 2nd place. Now that we have everyone at the olympics and saw 12 rounds of VNL, this is how i feel about the olympics:
A tier: Brazil and Italy
B+ tier: USA, China, Turkey, Poland
B- tier: Japan, Dominican Republic, the Netherlands
nobody really knows: Serbia
there just for the lulz: France and Kenya

Waiting for the thread for the Olympic tournament to be created, we could sketch out the coposition of the three groups (of 4 teams). That is, of course, if I understand how the draw works.
Since it is customary for the hosts to have a chance to advance to the second round, I would say that Group A should consist of the following
France
Poland
Netherlands
Kenya
Since Italy usually plays against China, I would say that Group C will consist of the following.
Italy
Turkey
China
Serbia
So, by exclusion, Group B will consist of.
Brazil
USA
Japan
Dominican Republic
Obviously the final should be Brazil vs Turkey but it will be Serbia vs Turkey
