Isn't Colombia already qualified with their 3rd place in the South American Volleyball Championship 2023? And I thought the inactive penalty score (-50p) was not set until January 1? But maybe they will include it in the ranking they base the WCH qualification on anyway. I don't think it matters though as the other inactive teams won't have enough points to qualify anyway.

avid 2.0 kwt mberlanda I saw the men's national team is playing a friendly against Argentina mid-July in Florence. Do any of you happen to know if the women's team will do something similar? I happen to be in Florence at that time, but I'd still prefer to watch the Italian women. Italy - Serbia (Florence, Palazzo Wanny, July 9, 7:00 PM) www.federvolley.it/node/128536

Serbia is an interesting NT - they're so confident in their major event performance that they almost never send an A team to secondary tournaments. Crazy to me that the reigning consecutive world champions were in the bottom Olympic seed pot. It also doesn't seem to be a specific coaching choice - Terzic, Santarelli, and Guidetti all seemed to have done this.
A non sequitur fun fact: USA and China have been in the same Olympic group stage pool every iteration since 1996. China won in '96 and '04. USA won every other time.

U18 Asian Championship Final Four: Japan, China, Thailand, Chinese Taipei These 4 qualifies for the 2025 U19 World Championship. Gold: China Silver: Japan Bronze: Chinese Taipei Top 3 is pretty much expected. Before the start of the tournament, I would say Thailand will definitely get the Bronze but when I watched TPE they are a solid roster, stronger than their usual. China getting the GOLD maybe expected as aligned with Seniors if you don't know the results of the previous editions, but I feel bad for the Japanese girls since Japan is the Champion for the last 8 editions, so they are the batch who broke the streak

Part of it is not having a ton of depth from low population - they can't mix in a B squad and win the way USA can (or could, prior to tis quad). The other half I imagine is pressure from Federation - I don't think Turkey/Italy/China coaches would still be employed if they were taking this many VNL losses.

Nobody called for Jenny to be fired - in the end VNL is still not seen as a big event in China.
