Eczacibasi Istanbul, the new team of Stacey Gordon and Katie Wilkins, held a media info/ picture session for the local vb media today. A short introductory session was followed by picture taking and lunch... Head Coach Marco Aurelio Motta said that he's very pleased with the way team is coming along and that they have been working well. The club has an unfamiliar mix of players this year in the sense that some players who were fixtures on the team have left and there're are no big names in terms of international players that we are all used to seeing from Eczacibasi. It's a younger team and one that's more suited to what Motta has in mind in terms of playing style (fast!) Media members commented that they will leave questions until after they watch the team in action which they will have a chance to do this week. Eczacibasi will play in the Cesme Tournament starting tomorrow and thru the end of the week. They are also very curious about the international transfers, especially Gordon and Wilkins... Official season opener for the team is on October 15th against Diyarbakir, a home game. Season opening ceremony for friends and families of the club will also take place on the same day. That looks like a team of champions to me.

Looks like a juniors team to me ;D ;D
Lots of familiar faces there. I'm rooting for them to put it together and take the championship back this year. If Fenerbache turns out, turkish volleyball could be pretty fun to watch from a style standpoint this year.

Looks like a juniors team to me ;D ;D Well, it is a juniors team to an extent... 3 players from the team who competed in the U20 WCH over the summer as well as another who was one of the last ones cut from the team. The average age of the team is 21 or thereabouts... Lots of familiar faces there. I'm rooting for them to put it together and take the championship back this year. If Fenerbache turns out, turkish volleyball could be pretty fun to watch from a style standpoint this year. Many of us share the sentiment - it would certainly be fun to watch Kistak's team if he can do what he has in mind. Also, if he can do what's in his mind and Motta can do what's in his, it certainly will be fun to watch the two go at each other.
