I really hope we get Batenhorst and a DS. Me too, for better or for worse that could get a lot of needed buzz going for the Bruins. Batenhorst would be a huge pickup for UCLA |

Too bad Barenhorst chose SC. Still no news of any transfers coming? I think we need at least an either OH or OPP, and a DS.

Offered Hendrickson immediately when she hit the portal. She turned out to be underwhelming and is now a serving sub. Offered Umeh a two years deal when she only has one year of eligibility. Not sure if she is worth that. UCLA was one pin away from being a good team. Both Hendrickson n Olson have two more years in the program and neither is the answer |

Reft make a couple of bad decisions last year and is now paying the price In 2023 from the moment Reft was hired, he was a part time head coach at UCLA. UCLA competes against teams that have full-time coaches. Of course Reft made bad decisions, because as a first time head coach in one of the best conferences in the country, he could not, and did not focus his time and effort to make UCLA the best 2023 team they could be. Nor did he do all he could have, or should have done to fix the problems in his ailing program. . . but how could he?, his time and effort was primarily focused during the spring and summer and into late September of the 2023 season on assisting the USNT build and train a great volleyball team for the 2024 Paris Olympics. He did not attend about 10 matches because of his USNT obligations. The truth is, UCLA hired a part time head coach for the 2023 season, and 2024 preseason. The head volleyball coach at a school like UCLA is a full-time job, but Reft didn't/doesn’t agree, and the 2023 team was a dumpster fire and the outlook for 2024 does not appear to be any better. How much time can Reft give his 2024 UCLA team this spring and summer when he is also obligated to being an assistant coach for the USNT as the prepare for this summer’s Olympic Games? Not enough I would think. It seems to be a difficult proposition to put your mark on a program as a new head coach when you are only around on a par time basis. Maybe Alfee has a plan… 🏐 |

Does anyone know the real answer about scholarships? Did Barenhorst even have interest in UCLA? You would think Refts association with the National team would help with recruiting?
