Does anyone know the real answer about scholarships? Did Barenhorst even have interest in UCLA? You would think Refts association with the National team would help with recruiting? She visited UCLA I believe it came down to not having the post grad program she was seeking.

Batenhorst was offered a scholarship and she visited UCLA. Not sure about the exact reason(s) why she chose USC over UCLA. Could be she liked the team or the grad program at USC better, or both. She checked out grad school at UCLA.

Thats not my place to say. UCLA was going to offer a scholarship and her choosing USC had very little to do with grad programs.

At the end of the day these kids played high level Club volleyball and showed potential. Get in the gym and develop the talent you have. There me be some that just can’t play,so they don’t.
If you can get a solid transfer great, but if they don’t,it’s not like the cupboard is bare.

Transfers are the new norm and will likely make up a good fraction of teams from here on out while developing younger players. Not sure I like it tbh, would definitely prefer to see players developed with the occasional grad transfers but such is life. UCLA will have several new transfers when all is said and done. They definitely have scholarships on the table. Hopefully get the players that were injured last year back this year. (Alupei, Brisco, McCarthy) Does anyone have an update on injuries?

I really hope we get Batenhorst and a DS. I agree. UCLA needs some backrow help. Look to be stacked on offense though! stacked on offense? hmmmm what is your definition of stacked?

You would think Refts association with the National team would help with recruiting? Why? A player that is good enough for the national team and that the national team wants is going to make their way to the national team, regardless of their college volleyball coaching associations.

That was a weird spin on what the poster might have meant. I’m sure most athletes just would find it to be a bonus that a coach has spent time around high level players in the National Team program.

I don't try to interpret what posters "might have meant", I take what they post at face value unless it's obvious sarcasm. What was said was "you would think Refts association with the National team would help with recruiting?", I responded to that comment - if you disagree, so be it. I do agree with you that it would be a "bonus", but a bonus would suggest that an athlete already choose UCLA for other reasons, which is antithetical to the basis of the comment of the original poster who suggested that UCLA should have a recruiting edge because of Reft's national team associations.

Also a grad transfer libero among other transfer recruiting still going on. Hopefully get the players that were injured last year back this year. (Alupei, Brisco, McCarthy) Does anyone have an update on injuries? Names of the MB and the international OPP? I hear another pin as well.

Why not ask the basis? One would assume a national team coach would be a n excellent coach with increased exposure to top level players, you say bonus is that not a recruiting edge?
