Sorry but this is an upset and one that does not merit an excuse. Congrats Daemen. Huge win Agreed. It's good to put in back ups for experience but if you lose in the process when doing that....then that's all on the coaching staff. Big upset indeed!

i get it theyre trying to develop their bench but at the cost of their name brand losing to an unranked opponent? That gotta hurt recruiting down the line

I’m confident no one will underestimate NEC teams remainder of the season. Daemen best CSUN last year as well.

After Rick found a lineup to beat UCLA at the Pauley Pavilion, he couldn't find one to beat Princeton and Daemen on a neutral floor.

not sure why the result is so concerning for SB.
it's good for Daeman, not really an upset when SB didn't play Bianchi & their starting setter
SB wasn't going to be in the at-large group anyway, they used it to develop players
nice win for Daeman, court time for a young SB team, that really needs to develop much better defense.

I think losing to Princeton was the end of any unlikely plausible at-large. so the game against Daeman was perfect for experimenting. and that's what they did. not diminshing the Daeman win, but it wasn't an upset, given who USCB played. or maybe that's the way UCSB planned the trip anyway. same for Northridge. great great win, but to me really not much of an upset if Rottman isn't playing. we can call these upsets, sure, unless one looks under the hood. teams/players are just too good, that if you sit a couple key players you are gonna lose a fair amount

Walmer was relegated to serving duty after a lackluster Princeton match, and a mostly lackluster non-conference season, to give Baglio his shot. Maybe a 'break' for Walmer, but also an opportunity for Baglio to turn up the heat under him. Bianchi sat out against Daemen but returned against Harvard. Call it load management or developing a backup or sending a message... but he hit over .300 against Harvard, after a miserable .139 vs. Princeton. So, whatever the reason(s) for sitting him, it worked. And Baglio set a win. It will be interesting to see what happens at setter going forward.

They should still be called upsets and the SB and Stanford absolutely were.
It is OK to at the same time discuss the lineups played, stratageies the coaches may be using to get their team to the NCAA tournament this year... or next. Most of the posters here are not diminishing the upsets by the underdog teams, maybe a few are pressing buttons after some got extra hot about it.
VT being VT

I guess not with the result.🤷

There is always an if or a but when you play the excuse game for any match, win or lose.

Stanford literally beat CSUN the night before without the Rottmans.
