I'd sure like to see these matches (UW/Stanford & Penn St./WI) on TV! I looked around and couldn't find anything stating that they would be, does anyone know if they will? Thanks! Doesn't look like there will be any TV broadcast of the Stanford - UW match, but I do believe it will be on the Internet and you will need to purchase CSTV's all access pass. allaccess.cstv.com/media/school.jsp?sid=3650&gSportId=32&ngSportId=all&ngDates=all&

Washington will deliver a real messge to the Stanford team I predict! CB will do her usual choke in the big matches routine! Can't wait to see this match! Well if CB "chokes" as you predicted against the LA schools, or against Penn State, hell then, by all means I hope you are right! ;D

The Huskies need to dominate Stanford and deliver a message. Barboza and Foluke need to be reminded they are freshmen. Washington volleyball needs to recapture the swagger lost by Washington football. But Stanford is Stanford even if all they got are freshmen. ;D Just like they reminded Franci Girard and Bryn Kehoe last year!!

I'd love to be able to watch this one on TV. Unfortunatley, the Pac 10 game of the week is the Wildcats vs. the Sundevils. All favorites aside this is a bad decision by the Pac 10 and Fox

All favorites aside this is a bad decision by the Pac 10 and Fox They're scheduled to show the Stanford-Washington match later in the season at UW, so I guess they didn't feel it was "fair" to the other schools of the Pac-10 to show this match as well. What I don't understand is why FSN isn't willing to show more than 1 match per week, which they then run repeats of later in the week. Why can't they just show the other matches instead of repeating the same one??

These quotes are from Candace Lee.
GH: The team is preparing to play Cal and Stanford this weekend. Is there extra pressure on the you because those teams are also undefeated in conference play?
CL:"I actually didn't even know their records but really with every team we play against we just look to meet our standards. We don't care what they do. We do get fired up to play certain teams but at the same time, when you step onto the court we don't think about what they are doing, you just focus on yourself."
GH: Saturday's match vs. Stanford is going to be a rematch of last season's national semifinal. Would a win against the Cardinal be extra sweet because they knocked you out of the tournament last year?
CL:"It would be awesome but also just being able to take care of business at their place would be even more rewarding because we haven't won there yet."
I was wondering if it was correct that UW has never won at Stanford. They havent as long as I've been following the team.
btw. I find it hard to believe that UW is suppose to dominate Stanford at Stanford. The number two team vs the number three team at their place. It seems like it would be an even match with Stanfords home court advantage taken in account.

One thing that works in the favor of both Stanford and California (beside the home court advantage) is that Washington has to split their practice time to prepare for both of those teams while they can both spend the majority of their practice time focused on Washington and pretty much be able to "expect" to get victories over Washington State.

What a perfect seg-way to tell my story. I was at the Oasis in Menlo Park in the summer of '99 after attending one of Ruben Nieves's VB clinics. I thought I recognized Don Shaw although I didn't make too much of it. Later, he came by to say hi to the Stanford men's coaching staff. I thought I'd take an opportunity to ask him what he thought of Cal's hiring of Rich Feller. The first thing he said after I told him I was a Cal fan was, "You're a what?" Great way to start a conversation. He then went on to say, "He a fine man and a great coach. Cal is lucky to have gotten him." He then expressed his concern that Cal's relative weakness (they were 2-16 in the Pac-10 that season) and what it meant for Pac-10 opponent preparations. Frankly - Pac-10 opponents were probably loading up to prepare for Stanford and (right or wrong) didn't worry about preparing for Cal. I guess that's not a problem now.
