I don't know how you come off because we aren't face to face if you're not explicitly attacking. I don't speak in hypotheticals off on my own and prefer to just give actual information based off of my knowledge of the game and to read it. I only carried it on in a hypothetical manner since the original poster mentioned something and I offered a differing opinion. You coming in with the "here and now" offers nothing in the context of that conversation which yes, you are entitled to offering nothing if you want lol Well here is my offer to the conversation....Will Rottman would have made a difference but not as big a difference as you hypothetically seem to endlessly suggest. Thanks. Lol Looking at his numbers and what he does for his team, why not?

I was rewatching the replay and was wondering why Stanford challenged Chakasʻ pursuit ( play starts 41 mins in). The sequence was:
- Rosenthal serves - Stanford receives & attacks - Galloway overpasses between the antenna - Chakas pursues ball and returns it to Hawaii side outside of antenna - Rosenthal plays ball between antenna - Stanford receives and attacks out - Hawaii wins point. Stanford challenges.
If I understand it, the previous rule was that Chakas can only pursue the ball if it goes to Stanfordʻs side outside of the antenna. So Stanford challenged thinking of the old rule. But a modification to the rules for 2023-24 state that the international pursuit rule will be used.
I am assuming the international rule allows pursuit no matter where the ball crosses the net? Can someone who watches international matches confirm this?

Yes, correct. Pursuit Rule Even though USAV allows pursuit (crossing under the net or net cable to retrieve the ball in the opponent’s free zone) if there is enough free zone around the court, it is rarely played. FIVB rules allow players to go anywhere to retrieve the ball provided it falls under the pursuit rule.
