There were rumors at Coast 6 years ago, when he was a coach there, that he had relations with a kid on the 16s team. Now with the recent news, this rumor seems to hold some more validity.

I heard Cody touched the players on his 18s team. I also heard he is supposed to be the head coach at rockstar 18s in the spring. Who do we think might take over that team since Vogel is at UCLA and Furbringer is coaching pro. I think with the trend bill Cosby might be a good candidate.

Sharing my perspective as a parent in the club for the last 2 years. Rockstar has the best coaching in SoCal and is still the premier club choice. Balboa Bay and Surf are also great but Rockstar is at or near the top coaching across all age groups. IMO, Cody was the worst coach in the club and likely should have been let go already based on coaching ability. The news is scary and I pray there are no victims although that seems unlikely. I feel for Matt and Joy, I don't fault them (they did run background checks) and I can say they have handled the situation with the utmost compassion for the families and athletes in the program. I know they also reached out to alumni athletes.
Net net Rockstar = Great, Cody = Evil.

Yes, there were plenty of rumors around a Coast coach a few years back. They were conveniently swept under the rug, but everyone in the SD VB community knew about it...

I think there’s a reason that there is all new leadership and coaches on the boys side there. Also a few of the girls coaches from that time are gone too. Was a toxic gym for a stretch there. |

But nobody should be defending this in any way whatsoever. |
