Team A defeats Team B 30-25, 30-25, and 30-25. For the match Team A outscores Team B 90-75. If I add up the following: Team A's kills, Team A's aces, Team A's total blocks(solos plus 1/2 times total assisted blocks), Team B's ballhandling errors, Teams B's serving errors, and Team B's hitting errors, shouldn't the total be 90? If not, why?

Here are the stats that inspired me to ask this question.
Team A: 71 kills, 8 aces, 10 total team blocks Team B: 24 hitting errors, 10 serving errors, 3 ballhandling errors
This adds up to 126 points for Team A. Yet , Team A scored 117 points in the match. What am I missing, or how am I confused??

10 of Team B's hitting errors were caused by Team A's blocks, so you have to subtract that, which gets you down to 116. Still, there is a point missing, but it's close. Any blocking errors?

If team A hits the ball and team B is in the net, the stats usually show team A with a kill and no error on team B. Sometimes, however, team B is called in the net (blocking error) when team A is not creditable with a kill, usually but not always when them B is hitting the ball.

You need to make sure you're doing team blocks. You can't add the assists and divide by two, because there can be triple blocks. But don't add it that way. Do Kills + Aces + Opponent Hitting Errors + Opponent service errors + Opponent BHEs. That should be 90. Greenie is right about 116 pts. But that's 26 extra points, not 1. You sure they didn't lose there isn't a 4th game hidden somewhere?

Greenie is right about 116 pts. But that's 26 extra points, not 1. You sure they didn't lose there isn't a 4th game hidden somewhere? Two separate situations, I think. The 90 point match is hypothetical, the 116 pointer is the real match the poster is concerned about.

The rotation error would be an ace.

Unless is was a rotation error on the serving team.

Then it's a service error.
