Episode 212: College Volleyball Weekly Men's Top 20, Week 8 Recap/Week 9 Preview, 2/26/24In Week 8 of the the NCAA Men's season we are still seeing intense parity as multiple teams visit "Splitsville"-- splitting their pairs of matches during the week. Along with that we're seeing changes in lineups, some intentional, some not. One thing is for sure-- the competitive levels REMAIN. As always, the guys discuss the results, pick their top players of the week, then dive into "Whatcha Watchin'" in Week 9. All that with some tangented discussion about "beard games," "Karate Kid" references and other salty remarks by the CVW Coaches' Panel. NOTE: We would have discussed the potential of a D2 Championship but we 1) ran out of time, and 2) Dan of Lewis had to leave the episode early. Also, CVW is available wherever you get your podcasts—search “Viral Volley Media” iTunes: apple.co/3wAnKUA Podbean: bit.ly/3uPWFvTYouTube:

The only other conference that only has one match completed (this week) is SIAC.

What is a 'throw'. Especially would like to get Dan's interpretation is there a different 'throw' rule for OHs and MBs? I'm sure he'd appreciate why the question is asked.

Sounds like the coaches forgot Hawaii plays the Outrigger before flying out to Long Beach We were talking about the start of Big West Conference play since the Big West only has ONE completed match in the books (UCSB @ UCSD). The only other conference that only has one match completed (this week) is SIAC. The conversation on 39:28 was focusing on Hawaii cycling players to have playing time during the Missouri S&T/ Sacred Heart matches, and if the starters would be primed enough to play Long Beach the following week.... which is an inaccurate timeline. I'm surprised they didn't question or even bring up if Hawaii would be ready for the Outrigger against GCU, UCI, and Lewis before they even face LB

As you can tell we are free-form and all things fell apart when Dan left (who will be at the Outrigger). I know I'LL be watching the Outrigger, AND the Heineken Beach Invite at Queen's Beach. A LOT OF VOLLEY IN HAWAII THAT WEEKEND!
