If they end winning this year, will you stand by that take? Yes I will. I can see them winning again this year if they can somehow finally find that “libero” player in their roster who can consistently perform. Why think they couldn't do the same last year? Sure Gooch solved it best, but there may have been other solutions.

I think you might have underestimated the value and importance of having a solid libero in a team especially if they want to win a national championship. I am not saying that they absolutely cannot win but from what I have seen so far and all of the libero changes from one week to another (sometimes even within a match) tells me what Speraw doesn’t currently have one yet. I would be curious what this team will look like later in the season.

I never said he has solved it yet, but he does have options and talent in the program a a couple months to figure it out. If I had to pick one team and bet all my money on them winning this year. It would be UCLA. It is far from a sure thing but people are acting like they are long shots.

When I read, "I will say that UCLA wouldn’t have won 🏆 last year without Gooch", I took it as an absolute statement rather than UCLA "might" not have won.

Given Gooch’s performance during the entire NCAA tournament, I think he was definitely one of the main reasons UCLA won but obviously he alone won’t win it all. It’s a team sport after all. Maybe what I also tried to imply was that this year team doesn’t have that kind of libero and that’s their real weakness.
