Lol
I thought a dominating win by Beach over Penn State would make the 1 race more, not less, competitive.

Putting myself in the Coaches' shoes I think the way GCU has been taking down teams is a statement in itself-- while only dropping 4 sets en route to their 14-0 record. Long Beach St.'s record is impressive also, and they've given up 7 sets (resulting in 1 loss in there).
In the end, both teams are playing incredible ball. It's too bad the only chance we get to see them head to head is if they cross paths at the NCAA Championship.

Lol I thought a dominating win by Beach over Penn State would make the 1 race more, not less, competitive. there is at least a 1 week delay... wait for it... But GCU did beat a higher ranked team #8 Stanford 3-0 2x compared to 1x #9 PSU 3-1 so technically less dominating and less difficult. GCU is so good that even if you lose 2x 0-3 you get a bump in your ranking! Lets see what UCLA does against OSU and PSU this week and LB against lowly UCSB and the GCU-UH-UCI faceoffs. I predict the top 5 will shuffle as the rubber hits the road.

I realize Stanford has the #1 SOS. still not saying Beach should be #1, just surprised how much the voting changed. GCU deserves credit, this year a much more heavy road schedule than last year there should be some interesting outcomes next couple weeks.

Long Beach has not played BYU one time & finally played GCU for the first time since in the quarters last year. & I suspect there won't be matches set in the future. The last time Beach played BYU was the 2017 semis. I speculate the idea of having to play two straight nights @ BYU to schedule them that BYU likes to do for understandable reasons, and for non-conference, just is not something I don't think Knipe would like as a matter of course. Maybe the same for GCU, not sure playing 2 non-conf back to back away games is particualrly desirable as a general philosophy. Hawaii is more unique for teams, for obvious reasons, and I'm sure makes it challenging for Hawaii to schedule. I think he'd prefer home and aways with non-conf. He's being playing MIVA & EIVA that way in the non-conf schedule since the Big West formed.

I had the coaches on my podcast talking before recording and most of them mentioned that this was the comparative metric that stuck out so I can't take any credit for it.

I think GCU is averaging at something like 5+ points differential from their opponents. Long Beach 6+ Hawaii 7+ UCLA 14+
