Players I saw/remembered in Kansas City this year committed to a p5 school. This would be a start for the top setters in the class - if you don't want to go through 65 pages of the thread above.
Kassidy O'Brien - Kentucky Taylor Cook - Kansas Teneyn Frye - Houston Addison Horner - Wisconsin Charlotte Glass - Duke Reese Messer - USC Campbell Flynn - Nebraska Isavella Mogridge - Oregon Logan Parks - Stanford
For me - I like Messer the best. Campbell Flynn reminded me a lot like Shaffmaster, I am sure she will be very good. Parks didn't always play all 6 rotations - not sure what was going on there? Frye looked very good - and seems like a great get for Houston.

The 6'3" Isabelle Bardin who plays for Metro and has committed to Purdue. One of the best blockers for Metro as well. She sets a 5/1. It is rare for Metro to use a setter in a 5/1.

Yeah - IDK that much about either - just that Flynn's size at the net kind of reminds me of Shaffmaster and her ability to control the net. Everything else could be completely different.

Does 3 things especially if setters are already committed 1. Keeps parent drama and playing time arguments to a minimum. 2. Keeps revenue flowing especially from the back up setter not running a 5-1. 3. Hedges against a team grenading at 3 Day qualifiers due to setter injury.

Someone told me Charlotte Glass got benched during one of their matches this weekend at Bluegrass. Said the score got really tight and Glass was making too many errors. I know these things happen and she is a really good player, it just kind of surprised me since they won the tournament.

Will want to add Charlie Fuerbringer to the abbreviated list as well.

Will want to add Charlie Fuerbringer to the abbreviated list as well. Why? She's a 2024

I saw her in a couple this weekend and she looked pretty good

Kassidy O'Brien sticks out to me and imo is probably better than some of the bigger names. I saw Glass play in KC & Orlando. I don't think she was a standout by any means. Watched Campbell Flynn some. She dumps a lot and tends to get frustrated with teammates and it shows.

What we do know is Flynn’s play in the U19 world championships where she was the main setter and played at least 80% of the points ahead of Charlie Fuerbringer-although Fuerbringer did replace Flynn after the first game in the championship match and led the US to the championship. And just from those matches it’s obvious Flynn is no Shaffmaster-she has good lateral quickness, not good lateral quickness for a 6’3 setter, just good lateral quickness for a setter. And if I remember correctly, Messer, Parks, and Glass were among the setters who tried to make that U19 team. Also, Flynn’s opportunity to play right away will most likely be blocked by Reilly. Messer on the other hand looks to be walking into an open spot at USC aided by the elite coaching she’ll get from Hildebrand. They’ll both good, we’ll see what opportunities each will get in a couple years…. The dark horse of the bunch may be Horner-she is very athletic but may end up as a OH if Fuerbringer works out at S. Glass never impressed me but I am in the minority. 🏐
