100 Percent SCAM. As two Club Directors have shared with me, "Red Hat Lady only works with the top tier players who by the way are these easiest ones in the gym to identify. She doesn't work with any mid level players and certainly doesn't spend any time with D2 or NAIA recruits. There are much better resources to help your kid get a scholarship." There are a number of individuals out there that work under the radar who can help your kid. They don't wear a Red Hat and they have solid contacts with College Coaches because they have built creditability with college coaches in helping them find Diamonds in the rough or actually knowing the players on a personal level. RED HAT = SCAM ARTIST!!! Generally her clients are D2, D3, NAIA etc. The top tier players do not need her services. She often records plays of the top elite games, but she doesn't represent them. Not what was shared with me and honestly look at what you just typed. Why isn't she posting videos of these kids she is helping at the D2, D3, and NAIA level. It because she isn't helping them.

IDK, I recall Kathryn Plummer being at one of her events. And yes, top players need less help from anybody, and there are far more mid-low level players to help so to the extent any of these things are volume businesses, they'd better be serving D2 and D3 kids. Can anybody email college coaches and start a youtube channel? Yes. Do kids, parents and even club recruiting coordinators universally know how and when to do this? No. In my own limited experience in this area its generally pretty basic advice... Have you let your daughter talk to the coach? They don't need to talk to you, they need to get to know your daughter. You cannot send a year old video. Why? Because at best it looks like she hasn't improved and at worst they'll wonder if there was a bad injury that you are hiding. Zoom in. No, they don't need to see you. No, they don't need to see the scoreboard, or her banner in the rafters, they just need to see the game. You don't need goofy graphics or music either. You assume clubs have somebody to answer these questions for the parents but sometimes they don't, and sometimes the parents are just afraid to ask all of their questions when that person is working for dozens of families. Most of us overpay for someone to cook our food, to change our oil, do our taxes, and clean our house. Why? Because it's worth it to us. Club volleyball parents have already overpaid for hotels through THS, they overpaid for lessons, for that smoothie in the convention center, and for parking/admission on the way in the door. Volleyball parents are used to overpaying for a hundred other things, and so some people overpay for simple advice to make sure they don't screw up their kid's chance to play in college. If it's worth it to them, then it's worth it, and it's not for me to judge.

Before I knew who "Red Hat Lady" was (about 4 or 5 years ago), I had a recruiting call, and the recruit mentioned something like "I'm working with Kara Hill and (someone else) in my recruiting process." My response was something along the lines of: "Cool. I have no idea who those people are."

I remember her doing something with All America game. Does she not do that any more?

She does post stuff for those kids as well. She works with Chris Tobolinski and Vball Phil (Don't remember her real name) and they do a lot of the media and reporting as well. I believe she has been successful in marketing her stable of talents that she "helps". It used to be around $5000 fee for that. But since then she has branched out to include club news, results, and rankings to drive people to her paid content.

It was like 10K to sign up and like 200 per month until kid is committed. By the time the kids finally committed (1 D3, 1 lower D1), the parents were so ready to cut ties, it wasn't even funny. That was a few years ago...probably 1.5 times that now.

The truth of the matter is college coaches will find talent. Just because players that pay her are recruited does not mean that she helped in any way, those players most likely would be recruited without her.
What really bugs me is she purposely misleads people and attempts to take credit for high level recruits when they have nothing to do with her. I know many college coaches and none have ever had a positive thing to say. That should tell you a lot.

Both of these individuals have helped a lot of kids get scholarships.

$10k for her “services”?!?! On top of club dues and travel…wow. Even for SoCal, that’s steep.
Apparently business is good. She’s selling her house (7 bed, 7 bath 5000sq ft) for $3,459,000 and moving to Texas to be more centrally located. Maybe hubby has a good job too. Wow…
