OSU was competitve in the 1st 2 games. Game 3 a wipe-out. Venski played great for USC; Katelyn Healy had a fine performance for OSU.

It was a good win by the team considering the mounting injuries hitting the team. Copenhagen was out. She did not suit up for the games and was holding ice to her ankle area. Tennant started in the OH position instead, and being substituted in the back row by Montgomery. McBride started in the Opp position and substituted in the backrow by Dillon.
In game 1, USC was clearly trying to adjust to the changing line-up, but once Siljegovic found Candelas, the team started to run away in games 2 and 3. Candelas was displaying her hitting and blocking prowess again tonight, hitting both from the outside and in the middle, over and through the blocks (even with triple blocks). Venski played well tonight too.
Clearly setting is getting better and better. Siljegovic is making smart decisions, and she was able to place the balls well, even with not-so-good passes. One thing that I like is that she has good timing and connections with Candelas, setting high balls (both outside and the 1s), allowing Candelas to fully extend herself and hit over the blocks.
I hope that Copenhagen is sustaining only a minor injury. the team is playing away at UW and WSU next week, but the week after that is more important with the Arizona teams coming into town and the team needs 2 victories on that weekend.

Of course, they need one victory at least next weekend as well. As they found out last year, strange things can happen in Pullman, a phenomenon also visible in football over the years. I hope that USC (and UCLA as well) can get healthy; after all the work everyone puts in, I want them to be able to play at full strength.

The good thing is that USC will play WSU first on thursday and UW on friday. So there will be no overlooking of WSU. Traveling between UW and WSU is problematic with limited transportation. Last season, if I was right, the team set out for WSU immediately after their match against UW and arrived at WSU in the wee hours. Coupled with the tiring victory against the Huskies, the team came out flat and fatigued against WSU.

Katelyn Healy had a fine performance for OSU. Are you watching the game? Healy has 2 kills, 3 errors out of 19 swings for -0.053.
