Really don’t know who should be 1 2 or 3. I’m going to still pick on Hawaii? Why are they # 13? They have 6 wins against unbranded teams and 5 losses against ranked teams. After this weekend they will probably lose 3 of 4 and somehow still be in the top 15.

USC on paper should be the most talented but they seem to be barely eeking out some wins. FSU is untested for the most part but has been dominant and has lots of depth. UCLA is always consistent. Stanford seems to have the best resume on paper, but the loss to ASU is what precludes them from being #1. If they beat ASU, they would be an easy pick for #1 given their wins. Seems like a clear top 4 though this year.

Weekly Poll doesn’t matter. Just have to keep getting experience before Gulf Shores.
Seems like top 4 teams are getting first place votes. Maybe the closest #4 has been to #1 in the history of the poll.
East Meets West will shake out the rankings some more once FSU finally gets into the mix of playing the top California schools (minus USC).

I think the weekly poll is very important. Pac 12 is stronger than ever with USC, UCLA, Stanford, Cal, ASU and UW all in the hunt for Gulf Shores. Throw in Big West with LBSU, CP and Hawaii. That is 7 at-large bids right there. Now throw in FIU, FAU, LSU. Somebody is getting screwed again this year. UW two years in a row?

Lol. Even though they’ve beaten #1, #2 (twice) and everyone else they’ve played in the top ten Stanford will NEVER be ranked over those two. Maybe FSU at some point but the rest forget it. Only winning the Natty will do it.

that loss to ASU, makes sense to me I watched it on TV. 2-3 loss on the road, in the rain with a 1/2 hour lightning delay, doesn't push the needle as much with me.

And coming off a big upset of Ucla. But probably many of the voters just saw the score.... Well, Stanford needs to get more consistent.

I didn't get a chance to watch it but found out right before the Oregon dual
UCLA breezed by ASU, not really close UCLA had a tougher matchup vs UC Berkeley the week prior

I’m curious, for incoming freshmen players at some of these top universities, what’s the biggest gap for them/skillset that’s separating returning players from the incoming ones? Asking as a new juniors coach with a lot of players moving on to the next level. I know what makes good volleyball lol, just trying to decide priorities in practice.

For most I’d say that blocking effectiveness and the ability to FBSO against good teams. You tend to see lots of juniors playing against two back defense, setting crazy tight and getting kills, or winning these long rallies with half speed approaches. Putting the ball down fast I think is the biggest gap
