Curious if CBS will have the camera at the net in Grand Rapids 🤞 I'm sure that answer is no. The arena layout puts the the camera where it is. Can't really fix that.

And I suppose those of us who don’t have any TV will not get to see the games on YouTube.

And I suppose those of us who don’t have any TV will not get to see the games on YouTube. Probably not. I noticed that the various CBS social media accounts have made 0 posts about this announcement. Therefore, the chances that these games are time-buys (essentially 3 hr. Infomercials) has increased drastically. If that's the case, CBS probably won't care if the games are simulcast, so it's not outside the realm of possibility. But, I wouldn't count on it.

If that's the case, CBS probably won't care if the games are simulcast, so it's not outside the realm of possibility. But, I wouldn't count on it. I wrote in Volleyball Magazine that the PVF's national-TV deal with CBS Sports most likely was a time buy and heard nothing from the PVF to say it wasn't. That the PVF almost certainly had to buy time to gain any linear TV presence should be a telling rebuttal to those who have said the league deserved to get TV rights fees because of the viewerships recorded for NCAA women's volleyball. Apropos of nothing, here are the high-water marks for live views during the last eight matches streamed on the PVF's YouTube channel: Fury at Valkyries, March 3, 3,800; Vibe at Thrill, March 4, 1,885; Rise at Mojo, March 4, 6,149; Fury at Rise, March 9 (matinee), 2,763; Supernovas at Valkyries, March 9, 5,354; Thrill at Vibe, March 9, 1,634; Thrill at Fury, March 11, 4,007; Mojo at Valkyries, March 11, 5,136. What do those numbers from a universally accessible free platform that the league has advertised to its fan base as its ONLY streaming outlet for about six weeks now tell any TV executive?

What surprises me about those viewership numbers is how inconsistent they are. They're all over the place. You would think the Supernovas would be the most-watched, but the Rise/Mojo match? It performed better than I expected.
I also have to wonder how promotion outside of the social media accounts of the league and teams would help viewership... something a time-buy deal with CBS doesn't help with because the network has no incentive to spend on advertising.

Out of curiosity, I just clicked on the PWHL Boston/Minnesota game. At the time of this post it has 5.5K and I've heard a lot of talking heads talk about how well it's being attended and watched.
🤷♂️
I'm not sure what expectations are for sports streamed on YouTube.

I also have to wonder how promotion outside of the social media accounts of the league and teams would help viewership... something a time-buy deal with CBS doesn't help with because the network has no incentive to spend on advertising. When you attend Rise games, is the YouTube channel live stream for road games announced? When push comes to shove, streaming these matches totally on its own dime on a free channel is a worst-case scenario for the startup PVF. The league gets no crossover promotion "rub" from anybody. Even in total views, which in no way represent "unique" viewers, the videos for the eight most recent matches have generated cumulative views of (going backward) 51k, 24k, 33k, 18k, 21k, 57k, 23k and 32k, These match videos have generated virtually no revenue through YouTube other than what the embedded advertisers pay. To your point on how inconsistent the live viewership has been, my reaction is that it has been consistent ... really low. Even 6,000 viewers (out of a potential audience just in the US of anybody with a cellphone) pretty much illustrates that the PVF has not been able to make a dent in even their home markets outside of the ticket-buyers. These are tiny numbers. After the novelty of the first week or so wore off, the cumulative views registered on match videos have been (in the big picture) minuscule. The bitter reality is that if the PVF needs leaguewide media-rights dollars to be a financially viable entity, these numbers do not support a rights-fee deal, even on spec, in a crowded market. As I have written from the start, individual PVF franchises will be sustainable to the level in which they can put paid butts in seats and generate local sponsorship revenue through that captive-audience exposure.

Yes, if the next game is a road game they do announce it's available on YouTube. To be honest, though, there isn't a huge push. There's more focus on the next home game. When I ask my neighboring ticket buyers if they've been watching recent away games to discuss the team, many are not tuning in. Some are surprised its available. I guess that tells you how many in attendance pay attention to the tron and roster list hand-outs.
The "Horizon" magazine was printed when Stadium and Bally was the expected broadcasters, so there's some misdirection there until issue 2 will be released mid-season.

Today I received Orlando's new Match Notes for the upcoming match against Omaha. In the included match schedule they still list all of their games on YouTube, including April 6 @ Grand Rapids and April 21 @ Atlanta.
These match notes from the various teams have not been very accurate reguarding TV and streaming schedules, so I wouldn't take it for granted.

Meanwhile, Orlando shows all of their games on YouTube and has no mention of CBS Sports.
