I think if you're talking about somebody who didn't get the conference-weekly, or EOY conference / regional / national recognition they deserved, yes. I'm obviously a fan, but IMO she outplayed Kate Georgiades, Elena Oglivie, Lexi Rodriguez in head-to-head matchups this year. Also Yelianiz Torres (but admittedly that was only one set before Torres was injured). But those liberos received all-conference and All-American honors and Halter didn't.

Mary Shroll had an incredible tournament for ASU. Eve Wilson at High Point was a star by the end of the season in the middle and I think she might be making a move to opposite this season, where she was hitting by the end of the season out of serve receive. I feel like this is the season for Norah Sis and Ava Martin to become one of, if not the premier outside duo in the country, even above a DeBeer/Luper. Murray/Landfair probably has the best odds right now for that crown though. Koenig/Head will be so fun out at FSU too. Taylor Anderson has a big ceiling to me out there at Purdue. If Babcock doesn’t fall into a sophomore slump, she seems like THEE prime candidate to become one of the best in the country sooner than later. Speaking of sophomore slumps, Mimi should be back in full form and HOPEFULLY on the right side this season for Oregon. I hope Lednicky wasn’t forgotten about at Texas A&M lol, she better be back at 6ro this season. Martin already feels like she’s one of the best but I’ll throw her in anyways. DeLeye seems primed for a jump considering how drastically different her conference and noncon numbers were.

I guess it depends on your definition on what "break out" means. - Shroll was already one of the best libero's in the country last year, the mere fact that she doesn't break into the Nebraska/Texas echo chamber here on volleytalk doesn't negate what actual volleyball fans know about players. - Norah Sis was also already one of the best OH's in the country last year but I agree Martin could enter that discussion Players like Landfair, K. Martin, Babcock, and Colyer are returning former 1st/2nd All-Americans, I don't think that counts here as far as breakout is concerned. As for the rest of the players: - I feel like we are going to continue to see a 6-2 at A&M, but that doesn't mean Lednicky can't produce a ton of points as a 3 rotation player. - Taylor Anderson, maybe, but I think Big 10's setters are held to pretty high standards, and I dunno if she's going to crack into that elite setter discussion - Eve Wilson, depends... I think High Point goes 6-2 next year, their incoming setter is very solid - DeLeye I agree - Koenig/Head mmmm maybe.

Shroll, Mimi, K Martin, Babcock, Sis, Lednicky and more are all already really good if not great, but I just think they’ll can go to being one of the best. Mimi fell off this past season, Babcock was elite but I didn’t view her as one of the absolute best players in the country where I think this season she absolutely could be. I name dropped Murray, Landfair, Koenig, and Head just talking about outside duos. I dont think any of the four are going to make some huge leap this season. B1G being harsh to setters is ironic…
