Does anyone have any scoop on possible rosters for any of the other teams yet? I thought I read that Japan and China's training rosters are already known. Anyone want to weigh in on either of those team's rosters? Japan released a wide roster with 24 players but only 21 were invited in the training camp - 3 played in the VCup and are likely just a reserve NT. It's pretty much just the same roster from last year so no expected game changer imo. On who had a good club season... definitely Sarina Koga. Sarina Koga's attacking and blocking stats this season is her highest in all her 10 seasons in Japan. Her reception stats is her highest in her last 7 seasons. New peak for her in club, pretty good condition. I just hope she won't get injured since she's very injury prone during NT. Mayu Ishikawa had her first time playing overseas so I hope she improved. Ai Kurogo is back after the Tokyo disaster lol. She went missing for a whole year after that (did not appear at club also), and when she came back after a year, she was in poor condition. She's in the roster and in media articles now but idk, I don't think her performance in club last season warrants a comeback at NT yet who I think will be in the main roster... OH: Koga, Inoue, Ishikawa OPP: Hayashi, Wada, Kurogo (Wada is sometimes use as an OH. Manabe likes a receiving Opp so Kurogo) MB: Yamada, Miyabe, Watanabe, Hirayama (Araki had very limited playing time at club due to injuries so if she's not 100%, Hirayama should be there) S: Seki, Iwasaki (Matsui might be the sub, but I feel like Iwasaki is the best among 3) L: Nishimura, Kojima/Fukudome

oops I knew I forgot someone. I’ll fix it later Brazilian fans will make you burn for this. It's not good to get on their bad side. Turkish fans are even more toxic

I don't think any NT cares about this VNL per se.

I don't think any NT cares about this VNL per se. Doesn’t world ranking factor into Olympic pool positions?

Certainly everyone there cares about both the Olympics and the money. There’s a lot more than just that $1M, also: At the preliminary round, the winning team is awarded US$9,500 for every win and the losing team is awarded US$4,250. Tournament Champions: US$1,000,000 Runners-up: US$500,000 3rd place: US$300,000 4th place: US$180,000 5th place: US$130,000 6th place: US$85,000 7th place: US$65,000 8th place: US$40,000

Top players often snob VNL, so I would assume prizes for players aren't that high.

I don't think any NT cares about this VNL per se. i feel like most federations who've qualified for the OGs know who they want to send to paris, but the VNL is a good way to determine who exactly if they have a plethora of players (USA at OH, Brazil at OH, MB, etc)

Well yes, I assumed we meant the federations when saying “NTs don’t care” The players on the floor always want to win. Nobody plays a volleyball match and wants to lose. So that takes me back to: if anyone doesn’t care, it has to be the federation, because the players they put on the floor do care.. Teams should be taking VNL more seriously now that it has a larger impact to their world rankings; and I think we saw that in the last VNL. I guess I’m just over this “nobody cares about VNL” falsehood that is pushed every single year because players who need rehab or a mental or physical break from playing may not make every single roster the country ever puts on the floor somewhere.
