Just noting fact. Personally I don't care if the reporter was criticized. My point is: why the criticism of Harper for not answering a question. Again she is a much better at playing volleyball at this point in her career than she is at interviews IMO. Her main focus should be on volleyball, but I am sure she will also improve at press conferences too. If not, and she continues to improve at VB, I, as a NE VB fan, don't see it as a critical flaw. Being criticized for NOT answering a question at a press conference? Why bother going in the first place? Allow that OPPORTUNITY for a teammate who is willing to actually answer questions at a press conference and just stay home. If she was forced to attend, then shame on Cook. BTW Beason answered the question. Your world is a teapot boiling.

Try not to get so defensive just because the majority on here disagrees with your view. But, I'm sure you're happy Beason was there to coddle Harper like a child.

I've been in plenty of press conferences for a variety of reasons: preseason, post-season, Final Four- both the winning and losing side, as both an athlete and a coach. So, I do have personal experience. These are genuinely not pressure cooker situations. Especially not preseason press conferences in front of friendly press. Great. Post them. Post those videos here so everyone can see and comment Sure. It’s an anonymous forum. If you can figure out who I am, feel free to Google it. I’m sure there’s several still swimming around in the ether somewhere. Good luck 👍🏼

Post them here yourself or simply resign yourself to being just another cowardly anonymous keyboard warrior

You described her as a student. I'm pointing out that she is not just a student, she's effectively a professional athlete playing for one of the most popular sports teams in the state of Nebraska. If it was some biology major who got picked up for DUI and then shoplifting in the space of a few weeks nobody would care and there wouldn't be reporters asking them questions about it during a class presentation. LMAO. She is a student and amateur athlete. Not a professional athlete. Look it up. Mmmm, she’s probably closer to to professional athlete than just a student and amateur athlete. In fact I don’t see how at this point anyone would consider her an amateur. Given the attention and profile of the program, she just isn’t a normal student.

Using the very good VolleyTalk 'search' function, it has been used exactly once (prior to today) back in December, by a poster who I have blocked. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Let’s hope it never sees more than that initial sentence. Not a big fan of Oz either unless Julia actually prefers that. Oz is actually the nickname the team uses, and she does like it.

Merritt was very poised in covering for her, she does a great job with the media. I’m sure it’s not easy dealing with media all the time, but that’s something that is going to be a factor when you attend the most heavily covered volleyball team in the nation. Merritt is a Queen 👑. - Wisconsin Fan Indeed, that is the one positive takeaway I have from this bizarre thread. - Another Wisconsin Fan

Broooo how did she fumble that question?!?! At this point, keep babygirl AWAY from the media this season. Ugh, it’s always gross ppl (mostly gays) that don’t understand how no reply is a response. Context: Grindr, in which some thirsty gay men can’t stand not getting a response. Sounds like you get a lot of No Responses on Grindr. Bitter party of 1 your table is ready.

By definition all college athletes are amateurs. In this case a 20 yr old sophmore student athlete.

Pretty sure <cough>NIL<cough> she qualifies.

I feel bad for that MSU kid who’s about to play in the US Open; he can’t collect the 100K prize money ETA potentially more if he makes it past the 1st round

Dont worry, there is someone for everyone. Just aim lower. LOL Then I hope you’ll reply to me when I’m in Champaign on October 3, cuz I just found you in Explore 🧡💙🧡💙🧡💙🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤 Total smoke show! 🥵 As sort of funny as you think this is, posting a screen shot from Grindr is kinda cringe.
