round 1,
Beach up 17-14 with a challenge after an incredible chase down by Briggs under the net to sget it back to the Beach side to save a point
Northridge giant killers las two weeks started 4-0 before cooling off a bit with a couple Hobas attempts long

Northridge did not look nearly as consistently good vs. Beach. the Beach block is part of it, and Beach did handle Northridge's serve well after spotting North that 4-0 first set lead.
wouldn't take too much about this match for what happens tommorrow. It'll be on hardcourt vs. Teraflex so a bit different feel for the legs as well. Hobus hit some poor balls, I just cannot see him hitting negative again on Saturday, so should be a more competitive match.
Siapanis had one of his better matches as well.
still no Godbold, hope he's ready for Irvine, at some point Beach may need that arm.

Beach clinches no worse than a #2 seed with the win.
Hawaii has to beat Irvine tommorrow, or Irvine will also clinch at least a #2 seed for the BWCT.

UCLA and Beach finally separating. The two best and deepest teams in the country, by a lot. Will make for a fun championship

CSUN serve receive was a mess. Beach serve was good, not great. Hobus must have had his worst match ever. Had maybe 3 clean kills. Aidan set well, had that almost amazing sliding foot dig that hit the announcers table first but still was cool to watch. Aidan starting to dump passes for points lately, nice development. His float serve has been really nasty lately. McRaven has a good float serve too. Soto had a good match, started bad but had some really high level digs and hit over .400 on 22 swings. 3 assists too. Loved Harlan dropping the yo yo serve in set 3, perfectly placed.
Watched Godbold in warmups again, and during the game nothing attached to the knee this time so its just seems like he's getting a minor injury rested until he's needed, so if that's the case, he'll be in the lineup v UCI. Hope so, like you say we need his arm, it gives us an extra dimensionality to the attack.

Another sweep for the Beach! Tighter match this time up in Northridge. Both teams played well. Service errors were a problem as both teams tried to hammer em. Beach 7 aces to CSUN 1, but 15 errors to CSUN 12. Best serve receive I've seen from the Beach in a while. Briggs has found another level I don't know how. Godbold didn't play but looks ready to me, hope he gets time v UCI should be some long matches next weekend and we'll need the depth.
Aidan setting was solid, starting to dump 1-2x a game for points, had some nice out of system sets for points. Harlan was whacking away and had a killer read on an overpass the CSUN middle clobbered right into Nate's block that was pretty. He had to lateral from the left side and timed it perfectly. McRaven had a few bad swings but connected on some and one was about as hard a hit ball I've seen. CSUN is good but makes too many mental mistakes to bring it home. Phillips is really good on the attack.

I have just started watching men's volleyball this year, due to an accidental annual ESPN+ subscription I got to watch the Hawai'i Rainbow Wahine, but I have gotten into watching the Rainbow Warriors as well. I am not sure, but I hope this weekend's results cement The Beach men into the NCAA Tournament, no matter what, and I hope all Big West Tournament matches are on ESPN+!

& the NCAA leading blocker (Bouchkov) is not even starting.
Beach has best depth of all their recent teams. Harlan is a great OH2 whether starting or off the bench.
not one player starting on Beach is in the top 50 in the NCAA in kills, with Godbold still out.
not something you see in a top 50 team.
Siapanis was really clutch on out-of-system sets yesterday, got a lot of key points end of sets

I just looked and was surprised to see there are 59 teams in D1/2. There has to be at least 10 other teams since Ball State, CSUN, Princeton, PFW, Ohio, M S&T, GCU, Belmont Abbey, Daemen have 2 players and Lindenwood x3 and there are 2 other players in the last from teams ranked 50+
