Watching this NORCECA match and Chaim is an utter embarrassment of a setter. You could legitimately call every one of his throws. How on Earth a pro can't figure out how to set a ball by this point in his playing career is unfathomable.

Watching this NORCECA match and Chaim is an utter embarrassment of a setter. You could legitimately call every one of his throws. How on Earth a pro can't figure out how to set a ball by this point in his playing career is unfathomable. I noticed that when he was setting against the wind Tri wasn’t able to use his beloved line attack and it was hindering them. Just couldn’t get it to the pin. But Tri still could have done more early. I think Chaim lacks confidence in his hands so location is a secondary thought to keeping it clean. He still got called for a double which he should just accept as the baseline and aggressively set to location. I didn’t think he was all that bad in that match though. Tri was everywhere with serve receive and couldn’t slow Logan down at all early. Got it together when they started going at Hagen and he started passing the short serve much better.

Just now watching the semi-final and Tri continues to approach every set from the pin but he’s having to come in so closed to Chaim that the line isn’t there. He’s either gotta pass Chaim more left if that’s where he wants to hit from or Chaim has to bump set and get it out there. Tri looks trapped often but he can help this.
