I agree with a lot of what you have coachmp24! I feel like they'll bump Wetzel up to 1st Team (I don't know if they'll have as many setters on that team). I also question whether Diedrich will make 1st Team as he's probably one of the most prolific attackers in the league.

Also Clay Wieter (Lindenwood) needs to make a team, probably above Lewis and Schuller. He's hitting over .300 as an OH with more KPS and about the same amount of aces as Lewis.
He's one of the best in the league honestly.

I think I’d put Frazier over Walker for IPFW.

OSU taking some big hits, but Loyola and Ball State are bringing back basically their whole teams next year. Both had Freshmen and Sophomores playing major roles. This should be a great MIVA rivalry for the next few years.

Lewis not losing any starters - 4 true sophomores and 2 true Juniors

How does it make sense to have no setters on first team? It is 10 pin attackers 1 middle and 1 reserved libero spot. Why don’t the setters have a reserve spot? In all the other conferences aren’t the awards given out in actual “team” positions rather than just a clump of guys? I am not sure can some one correct me if I’m wrong

I am not sure how the all conference awards work for the MIVA, but other all tourney or conference teams do not go by position. The coaches take who they feel are most deserving, however I do agree that one of the setters should have made first team. The setting position was one of strength this year in the MIVA.

I agree about Ball St, Loyola, and Lewis bringing back youth and experience next year. I wouldn’t rule out Mckendree as a team to watch. They took really big strides this year and will return both starting middles, their strong side hitters, their libero, both opposite side hitters, and a freshman setter who was swinging weak side for a portion of the season and is now setting due to a really unfortunate injury to their senior setter. It will be a fun conference tourney starting this Saturday, and it is shaping up to be a really strong conference next year.

I 1000% agree that there should be at least 1 setter on an All Conference 1st Team but the MIVA actually hit some rough spots with setters due to injury.
Magnun was hurt majority of the first half and Loyola was platooning that position between two underclassmen.
Morgan for Lewis wasn't consistently the starter or was pulled in some games.
Wright and Platfoot have been sharing time, especially with Wright coming off injury.
Machado dealt with a little bit of injury but also didn't start the season as the go-to setter.
The most consistent setters were Sheehan for Lindenwood (but they really struggled at the start of the season) and Poulsen for McKendree (but he too just went out with injury the last two weeks of the league)
I'm actually surprised some players made teams with how many injuries the MIVA suffered this year.

yay Mark Frazier. Transitioning from OPP to OH is always tough and I'm glad he got the recognition that he deserved. He was very solid passing wise the times that I watched him. Props to the PFW coaching staff for turning opposites into very serviceable passers (Diedrich).

Agree with all the setter talk - I realize that there were a lot of injuries at this position, but Sheehan lead the NATION in assists/set. That is a big miss. Otherwise, I thought Deem Meyer and his MIVA-leading blocks/set would land him on the first team. But, if you ask me who should get moved down, then I don’t know who I’d pick.

Absolutely agree that Sheehan should be 1st team. Yes LindenWood struggles early , but they finished strong and he due lead the nation.
