The fact that Hawaii is above GCU is criminal. With the loss of Spyros, its evident that Hawaii's season is over. I would maybe consider them in the 5 spot.

If GCU stays with Gianni at OH and Anderson at Opposite, I think they can win the win the whole thing. Once they get used to this lineup, I would love to see a rematch vs UCLA.

Long Beach should be in the 2. The UCLA team that they beat in early February isn't the same UCLA team now that Champlin is back and better than ever. LB also almost lost to Hawaii without Spyros, a team that isnt strong and has been defeated since the injury.

Hawaii would still beat them imo but it would be even tougher. Never count out a Hawaii team especially during the conference tournament and most especially if they are given a chance in the post season.

The fact that Hawaii is above GCU is criminal. With the loss of Spyros, its evident that Hawaii's season is over. I would maybe consider them in the 5 spot. At the Outrigger Battle Royale, with Chakas on the floor for five sets vs. UCI, and UCI not playing D'Arcy or Flexen, Hawaii eeked out a win in five sets. Hawaii was without Chakas for only the final couple of points of that match. Everyone else was healthy and available. Fast forward to night two of the Hawaii vs. UCI conference matchup, and Hawaii is w/o Chakas and Galloway (OH1 and OH2) in the lineup (injury), with a freshman at OH1 and a 6' OH2 who usually is a serving specialist, and a 17-year old freshman setter. UCI has their full complement starting: Henno and Flexen at OH1 and OH2, and D'arcy at Oppo. As healthy as they've been. Flexen goes out briefly in set two with a shoulder bugging him, but returns in set three. Hawaii wins in four sets on UCI's floor. Hawaii has been without Chakas all of conference play, and two of their four conference losses were to Beach immediately after Chakas went down. But, they took Beach to five sets on their floor on night two of that series, w/o Chakas, and were within a couple of points of taking that 2nd match. They lost to CSUN on a night two matchup, but they didn't play poorly. CSUN decided to play their best volleyball of the year for a couple of matches in a row, taking down Hawaii then UCI, before going back to their shooting themselves in the foot ways against Beach. Hawaii lost to UCI on night one of their conference matchup but again they didn't play poorly, it was UCI 'Flexing' Flexen and Hawaii not adjusting as fast as they should (inexperienced with two new outsides and a frosh setter). Night two, Hawaii competes, UCI stumbles, and Hawaii takes charge and never lets off the gas. Henno gets shutdown and starts punching at the net, Flexen and D'Arcy not the same as night one, Sheward gets the hook. So, what to make of it? Hawai'i since Chakas left has been up and down while adjusting, trying different things, gaining experience with new outsides, and slowly improving and ratcheting up their level and consistency. When they get it right, they are within reach of taking down any team. It's been more of a rollercoaster w/o Chakas, but others have been picking up the load and at this point they can play at a higher level than they were at the Outrigger, when clicking. Their challenge is maintaining it.

Nathan Harlan has been playing very well for LBSU but when Godbold is healthy again he will offer them even more great options. Considering that for now also Bouchkov (leading the nation in blocks/set) is not starting, they have at least as much depth as UCLA, for sure more than the other top tier teams, and they lost only once. UCLA had a great schedule but lost a few that they should have won

They beat UCI on the road without BOTH multiple year starting 6-rotation pins on the court in Spyros and Chaz. I tbh didn't think they could do it but glad they did.

GCU didn’t win against UCLA this past weekend and lost to both Hawaii and Irvine in pre conference matches. And Hawaii’s split with Irvine on the road. I actually would even put GCU in that 5 spot instead.
