The even scarier part is that Hawaii isn't done with its recruiting for this class and they have yet to announce Kainoa Wade, the transfers as well as the "friend" of Adrien Roure that may be coming in with him. This UH squad next season will be stacked but young and really a peppy bunch.

I see some great things for this young squad with them hosting the Big 2 in conference play in LBSU and UCI at home as well as hosting the BWCT at the Stan. This young squad has the ability to open some eyes next season! Go Bows!

*No official announcement by the school for Kainoa Wade and Matthew Wheels but they both are 2024 recruits and announced their commitments on their social media thus the reason I put them in the 2025 roster already.*

Plus we got transfers and still a few more possible recruits from this class to come that have not confirmed yet but koavball will certainly throw out the breadcrumbs when he can !

I thought I saw somewhere that Wade wasn’t going to end up reclassifying? Maybe not. Even if he does come to UH next year, I would put Finn over him as next man up, but I agree with your starters

Kainoa celebrated his senior night for volleyball and was honored so he is definitely coming. In regards to next man up....it wasn't in no particular order other than I placed them based on position. I personally think Finn is higher on the list but I also think a bunch of them are higher on the pecking order....i just listed them where I could.

I think Wade redshirting is a smart move. Could he snatch one of the starting spots? Maybe, but he's still much more raw in talent than the incoming recruits. It's best he just focus on developing his passing game and putting in work in the weightroom this first year like what JT did.

I really like Nic Slight. He is a great setter with a natural flair to him.

I don’t see any pro-bound SENIOR* setter being even remotely interested in transferring to Hawaii or UCLA. Those teams have their setting positions locked in with likely the future of our Olympic team’s setters.

Nic Slight is a pipe dream for me. He is a completely different setter than Tread. It would be hard to keep him on the bench.

I should have clarified “pro-bound senior” setter. I think it remains to be seen where Kauling’s trajectory will be after this season because he looked quite bad when he came in to set a few matches ago, granted it was a stressful situation, but I don’t know how you market yourself to a pro team with a year’s worth of no recent film, highlights, etc.

I’m sure lower level teams in major need could bring him on based off older film but I would say someone like Shewie, who is getting significant in game setting reps in his last year before potentially seeking a pro career, has a leg up on Kauling. I get the “wanting to challenge yourself” and “being in a competitive gym” but I think the setting position is one of those where it’s really hard to get much better unless you are the one running the show at least half the time.

With the Texas setter that transferred in , I think it’s a little different. There are just so many NIL perks to being a Texas women’s volleyball player right now, both are young in their careers, and not to mention there are many who think the incoming Baylor transfer is the better setter having been higher ranked. That entire roster is at least 2 deep in every position with extremely capable athletes, just seems like super teaming to me, which I’m totally here for lol.

I don't anticipate it either. We do need a setter the most though. Portal opens up in May, so we'll find out soon enough.

Someone here mentioned setter is not his natural position and he just started playing there recently. How recent? That part idk

Tread will be starting all of next season no doubt, but they're still going to need some sort of reliable backup. Having only two setters in your roster is risky.
