Let's be clear NTDP is very subjective. There are some kids there that clearly don't belong. Kids that don't start on their club or HS teams have gotten invited all because their club has an "in" with the Regional Scout. Hawaii's class if it pans out and that is the case with every class will be one for the ages. The question will be can they keep them all happy and playing. Beach's class with Nikolov stepping in or competing with Doty at Setter, Kandev/Loiola will probably compete with Sani for the Godbold's job, Preuitt will compete with McRaven and Bouchkov for Towrie's spot. Preuitt taking over for either McRaven or BOuchkov (the nation's leading MB not even playing now!) would be a good problem to have. main issue for Beach is replacing and life without Briggs. with Varga, Bouchkov/McRaven in the middle, Siapanis back. Beach is actually in pretty good shape, and with lots of setter options and lots of libero competition if Nikolov, Kandev, Sani, Dani are as capable as they project to be, Beach could be pretty dang good. with those athletic middles, Beach finally does need to become a more MB attack oriented team but first things first, there's a Natty to go after. Libero is the one thing Beach has to worry about, having Briggs back there for so long everything looked easy. It's not just the serve receive but he covers his hitters so well. UCLA has shown this year the importance of having a stabilizing force at that position. I'm a big fan of Doty so I hope he gets a fair shot instead of just handing it over to Nikolov.

I wish Doty had been able to set a few more matches. Hard to tell, even Beebe got the nod over Doty a bit, including a 5 set loss at UCLA last year. and all the liberos, Larson and Harman, as well let the competition begin. still hope to see some of BOuchkov in the NCAAs, the guy has to be a bit frustrated right now wanting to play - understandable the guy's a mean competitor lol

LBSU and UCLA fall into the same category. Can they keep everyone on their rosters happy? No, they won't be able to do so. So you hope you build what you have and keep that B side uber competitive. 100% but I will say Knipe allows his guys to play in those lower level (SIAC, IVA) games more than Wade did. Look up Beach's stats he played 24 different guys this year, 18 played in 10 or more sets. He redshirted 5-6 freshman players. So basically everyone who wasn't a redshirt played at some point. Out of the 20 original players on the roster......4 of them were redshirting, 1 injured, while 9 of them had significant playing time which includes Spyros in this count until he got injured. Out of the remaining 6....2 had more consistent opportunities with being a serving specialist. And the other 4 did come in at certain points of the season even against weaker competition. I think 4 out of the original 20 can say maybe they should have had more opportunity to play. But if 4 out of 20 is the ratio of not playing significantly then that's actually pretty decent tbh. Btw, next season will be the most stacked talent to ever come through the program in recent history. Charlie will rock with a preferred line up I'm sure....but that roster us too talented for him to keep all of them on the bench. So next season makes things significantly different talent wise vs years past.

Is there someone I'm missing? Doty - he played U21 National Team last summer Harman - is he more of a lib or setter? Will he go the sand route like Partain instead? Peluso - he never sees the court, I'm surprised he doesn't follow his dad to George Mason Pazanti - my guess is he gets redshirted? Nikolov - I would assume he gets the most looks since everyone has been so high on him.

Doty probably has a little advantage, definitely will have an experience edge. Main question is how quick will Doty and Nikolov (or any of them) really be at D1 speed?

Using your same barometer of sets played.....5 of 20 (doesn't include redshirts in this ratio) played less than 10 sets for Hawaii. So yes, LBSU has more players but Hawaii with its smaller roster still evens out in the playing time allotted to its players based on sets played in the grand scheme of things. I think out of the bunch....the only one that I would question their playing time or lack their of would have been Kauling. The rest a bit justifiable based off of how low on the depth chart they are and so forth.

Wade really did that kid wrong especially if he wound up paying out of pocket to be there.

Is that Polish kid Gajek still coming? Everyone keeps mentioning the Bulgarians, but totally forgot about him. The only reason I remembered was because Hawaii was also on his radar. lol

You might need yours eyes checked, Lowe was invited to USAV NTDP multiple times. That doesn't seem mediocre or average Let's be clear NTDP is very subjective. "Let's be clear NTDP is very subjective". You're not clear on that, just vague. You're also operating on the premise that Lowe has an "in" and we don't know that.

I said "kids" I didn't say Lowe specifically. Some kids definitely don't deserve to be at NTDP. Some kids get invited multiple times and get pulled from the list. It really is a who you know thing in certain regions.
