2025 is loaded. This is a bad take. You can tell by the parody in the 17 open division. Every team has high level players that make it super competitive. 2023 was one of the worst classes in recent years. After the top 5-10 it was a SERIOUS drop off compared to ‘22 and ‘23. Well you got one thing right, the 2025 class is definitely a parody of a competitive class Everyone being equally mid doesn’t make the class impressive Just to show you how weak ‘23 was, the team that won it all in 18 open was all ‘24s.

The level of play in 2025 is so elevated because there is talent everywhere. The middles in 2025 may be some of the deepest we’ve ever seen. Not to mention the libero play at that level. The only issue I would say you see in 2025 is the that the setters and pins may be a little undersized. But definitely think as a whole that class has elevated play compared to 2024. I would take the top 20 17s teams over most of the 18s field, minus that top top group. I guess I’m not seeing the talent in the 2026 field that everyone is talking about. I personally think this is not one of the better years of 16s and I’ve coached in this age group for years. Nobody is standing out to me as a superstar player quite yet where in the past you’ve been able to pick the top recruits. Maybe I just haven’t paid as close attention quite yet.

The 2025s are very deep, which is resulting in really good competition and parity at 17s. There is a bit of lack of star power which I think is reflected in the early commits. For the 16s, three of the 2026s selected to the U19 are playing 17s for club and I think if the younger Falbusch or Mikhailenko were playing 16s those would be the guys you are looking for.

That is exactly what UCLA does, it is a gladiator pit. Look at Partain and Rowan... or the pin line up, or the opposites, or the middles. Players go there because they all believe that can beat ANYONE out, and the national team coach is there and the best want to play in the Olympics, any like I said, the best players never back down from competition, they charge toward it, if they don't they will never be the best. 2025 is loaded. This is a bad take. You can tell by the parody in the 17 open division. Every team has high level players that make it super competitive. 2023 was one of the worst classes in recent years. After the top 5-10 it was a SERIOUS drop off compared to ‘22 and ‘23. I read very strong "setter" class and I stand by the fact that the setters in the 24 and 23 (including Tread and Blanchette here) are stronger that 2025 which I see as a weak setter class. As far as overall classes for all positions, 2024 and 2022 stronger than 2025 and 2023 which are similar. The 2025 Midwest kids are probably best ever but the Midwest doesn't drive the bus

But absolutely giving both those guys the edge over Blanchette.
