Looks like both Možič (Slovenia) and A. Nikolov (Bulgaria) are out for this VNL due to injury and surgery that they need to have.
Možič might be able to come back and play for the Olympics if his team can secure a spot.

The Canadian in me is excited to see many returning and some new names for Team Canada. Hope to see some action for Varga although the OH spots seem to be locked for Maar, Loeppky, and Hoag (this is probably the spot that is up for grabs) Excited to see Kofi back because we need him in the middle, although I’m not sure if his break has affected his form. Have also always wanted to see Keturakis get the start for this team as his physicality is miles ahead of Herr and Walsh imo Canada is probably still not a medal contender but I’m excited to see the wide roster, hope Samuelvo changes things up! Hasn't Barnes been doing pretty well? Related: I'll never forget VNL a year or two ago where his jersey had him as Barncat and the commentator kept calling him that.

I don't know what wild swings in rankings are possible this tournament, but Slovenia being over 70 points up on Cuba seems a little warm, but cautiously safe.

Right that is my thinking too so it is better for Mozic to get the surgery now than later. Also even without him, I think they still have two very solid starting OHs.

Just to add to your post This is their 18 players that seem to be in contention for the 12(13) Olympic spots. volleyball.ca/en/news/2024-senior-men-s-indoor-team

And with Štern back this summer, they don't have to run their 3-OH offense (though I preferred it) in VNL.

Bennie Tuinstra isn't eligible for the Dutch because they quite literally forgot to check the box next to his name. Yikes. Is he their setter?!

Everyone voting for Poland, tell me: is it because of Bieniek's serve or Śliwka's flawlessly groomed facial hair?? 🤨

Feel like they are both pretty good and comfortable at these positions. This gives Slovenia more choices, which is good. They should be able to secure Olympic spot based on the rankings system, if not losing to too low-ranked teams.
