If Russia were allowed to play in nations league or the Olympics, where would you predict they would finish?

If Russia were allowed to play in nations league or the Olympics, where would you predict they would finish? Russia is always a medal contender and especially now that their core group is in their prime right now minus Mikhailov. There are couple of young opposite guys that can potentially take over next quad but I don’t see them as impactful as him. Luckily, they seem to have a surplus of terminating OHs and decent MBs. Their group of setters seem to be more talented and physical compare to the past. Even with the ban, domestic volleyball scene have been good.

Makes sense that Ishikawa and Takahashi is not playing this week 1. I hope we get to see Masato Kai more.

I am a bit for both of them :/ It's almost like they've chosen the Olympic roster already. I don't see how any player who is on the Week 3 roster for the first time can make enough of an impact to unseat someone. Unless there's an injury (Also, no offense to Luca Porro, but if Lavia or Michieletto struggle... those are not great options to replace them.)

I think this roster makes sense from a qualification standpoint, though I think it's overkill from that perspective in any case. They're in a really good position, but I wouldn't chance odd losses to worse teams. I love watching Paolo Porro run the offense, but understand his exclusion. Bottolo not being on the roster makes way less sense. Eye test, he seems better than Recine in pretty much all areas of the game, even if just by a little. From a volleyball perspective, I think this roster is the right move. For other reasons, it's a bummer.

USA mens week one roster dropped:
S: Tuaniga, Isaacson OPP: Garcia, Hanes MB: Marshman, Gasman, Knigge, Wetter OH: Kessel, Ewert, Wildman, Champlin L: Briggs, Dagostino
we play Poland, France, Bulgaria, and Turkiye. I don't anticipate match success, but it's going to be fun to see these guys go out there and really show what they can do! hopefully hold it down for the Olympic team to get to the finals and maybe get one win

Glad that these “new” guys get some playing time and experience at this level.
