A quick internet search confirms that the standard penalty for a first DUI in Nebraska is a $500 fine, 7-60 days in jail and a 6 month suspended license.
The report says she walked out of the store to her car with Michigan plates. If she has a suspended license and drove away on video, that's another $1000 and up to 6 months in jail.
And shoplifting less than $500 is a Class 2 Misdermeanor, another $1000 fine and up to 6 months in jail.
And I understand that you'd want to see a young person who made ONE mistake get a break on jail time, but if she's potentially looking at 3 separate criminal prosecutions in just a couple of months I have to think the mercy of the system is going to wear out at some point, no? And people think she going to play this fall?
I guess my question is if this has something to do with Nebraska, or was she breaking laws in Michigan and either didn't get caught or it just got sealed because she was a juvenile. If she was clean as a kid, she should probably go home at this point and get help.
