Yeah i completely agree that Nygaard is holding them back but man a lot of talent. Klein, Blanchette, Smith, Haine, Foley, Stuard, Olsson is probably a top 5 roster on paper (coming from a UCLA fan!) Their recruiting class is very promising, I just hope they don’t become irrelevant SC should be better next year…but it’s a real head scratcher how disappointing they have been past two seasons. Lack of development and sus coaching decisions plague what should be a competitive team

Contention wasn’t good enough for the AD and they fired Fergie and brought in Nygaard. The rest is history, or lack thereof.

Is there a chance of expanding the playoff field next season? How/when is that decision made?

Is there a chance of expanding the playoff field next season? How/when is that decision made? Expansion to 12 teams has already been approved. The issue is whether they can find financing to actually make it happen. The NCAA finances travel and associated costs of the actual tournament. It was supposed to go under review not sure what happened or if it ever happened.

Well then this is probably the best time to push it through. I'd assume the costs will be a little better in Columbus, OH next year than Long Beach this year or UCLA in 2026.

Except if, say, 6 of the 12 teams were all SoCal teams that could stay on their own campus and just had to bus back and forth vs. all 12 teams needing to be flown to Columbus and put up in a hotel room.

Not sure about Beach, but UCLA stayed in a hotel in Long Beach. So did Irvine.

UCLA was in Long Beach for the week. hard to see how Long Beach was high cost, GCU bussed in. quarters close to a sell out, semis and finals sell out. not sure I like Columbus as a site choice. Chicago would be a better for a Mid_west site, maybe even Indianpolis is better than Columbus, IMO. George Mason has a good location. just don't go back to Stanford. rotating it from UCLA, George Mason, Long Beach or maybe Irvine?USC, and a Mid-West site (i.e. Chicago). The base of fans in SoCal (which includes a sizable BYU & Hawaii fan base) is just too great to not keep it there half the time.
