Watched most of this on my phone so couldn’t VT simultaneously, but this was a fun match, and I agree, one of the first times we’ve looked truly like a unit. Hoping JP & KP are okay. Carlini needs to figure out her sets to Larson. We need Larson's smarts and production. Agreed. I have faith in LC - and I believe the Gov does, too, or I don’t think LC would be on the roster. They have a month to get it sorted. LFG.

Sucks that one of USA’s best matches was at 3am for me but wow what a fluid team and win for USA!
Larson: passing broke down at times but defense ELITE, and she found ways to score, still without ripping the ball… Skinner: speaking of ripping! she got slowed a ton in set 2 but she stayed in it and the passing was sick. does she really have no line shot at all? Hall: I’m crying so hard for her especially after that week 1 face injury. she was everything, she works so hard to get out and be available in front and behind. Washington: disappeared at times for me? (haven’t seen stats though). her energy is like no other but I wanted her to put away more of those slides Carlini: one of two MVPs for this match for me, like that defense is suffocating and gave USA pins so many transition opportunities. I can’t see any argument for her not starting at this point; she had such good decisions tonight. Drews: Thank gawd mama learned some block and defense AND that her entire brand is hitting against the Japanese block so she killed it. JWO: ELITE. she has gotten better and better every week, like my gawd especially those first two sets she was locked tf in. Top 3 libero in the world I fear Hancock: she is such a baller, so much poise and class. She needs to be in Paris imo, her limited playing time > Poulter for me! JT: she was there

Koga... girl needs to get it together. 5-5-31? Not only hitting 0 but also 16% KP on 31 attempts? It would've been embarrassing if we lost to that.
I'm shocked she didn't get yanked. Inoue and Hayashi barely got a chance.

Love me some Wada bomb serves, but I thought it was interesting that they gave her the start when she's usually a sub.

Didn't read to see, but did Japan have their A-team out today?

I watched this match many hours delayed, but I absolutely love this announcer. He makes volleyball sound as exciting as a tight Formula One race - his voice cracks into high pitch with excitement, he uses great British terms for brilliant plays, and thoroughly understands the game. He is so fun. Can he do the Olympic broadcasts?

Can he do the Olympic broadcasts? he usually does the world feed if you can get access to that.

He is so fun. Can he do the Olympic broadcasts? I guess it's a matter of taste. The sideline commentator does a fairly good job with his interviews, but I think the play by play and color guys are amateurish and completely over the top annoying with their grade school antics.

I didn't get to watch the last two matches against Japan and Italy, but it sounds like Poulter and Plummer are pretty injured if they aren't playing? I would think this would be the time for them to get game time reps and for the team to gel. Anyone know the specifics of the injuries? I wonder if there are some last minute roster changes...
