World rankings at the end of th preminlary phase of VNL will be used for Paris draw. The finals doesn't matter. Paris Draw: A: France, WR#5, WR#6, Kenya B: WR#1, WR#4, WR#7, DOM C: WR#2, WR#3, #8, #9 Is the above info correct? Or are they dropping the serpentine system? It’s a serpentine draw, so think of it more like: Group 1: France, 1, 2 Group 2: 3, 4, 5 Group 3: 6, 7, 8 Group 4: 9, 10, Kenya France is A1, and they’ll be drawing in reverse serpentine order based on group. If I’m correct, they should draw for A4, then B4, then C4, then move on to go placing group 3. The placement isn’t based on exact position, it’s just which group you have your lot drawn with. The US staying at 5 means they can be any of the Pools, but they just won’t have to worry about either Italy or Poland in their pool. Ultimately, the US could end up with France, Netherlands, and Kenya in their group, or they could end up with Turkey, China, and Serbia. The grouping just gives you assurance of who you won’t be seeing. also since there is randomization, you can't just manipulate your ranking by losing to get an easier group. Although some teams really want to be in the fourth pot for some reason

USA 'A" hasnt lost to Japan since the 2011 World Cup... will another streak be broken? and what a painful loss that was... Yup, that match gave the gold medal to Italy who was defeated by USA in the tournament. Up 24-22 in the first set against Japan, couldn’t close the deal and completely collapsed in the 0-3 loss. Still can’t believe Italy won more major tournaments(3) than USA or Brazil. They either won Gold or nothing at the majors until their recent final loss to Serbia at the world championships

Everyone is so down on USA lol Can you blame us though? When was the last time we looked this bad going into an Olympics? I'm honestly really frustrated with Karch and Co for even starting Poulter all these weeks when it seems clear that Carlini is their best starting option. I'm even more mad for Micha. She should be going to the games and Poulter should give it a try next year/next quad IF she can ever truly get her mobility back. We should have been riding Carlini and Hancock this entire VNL. I hope they pull things together in what? 40 ish days? I'm just not optimistic. All the top teams look SEVERAL levels of play better than we do right now. A medal in Paris is looking like a fantasy at this point. Sorry not sorry.

After Poulter’s injury prognosis, Karch and co should have been set on Carlini and Hancock for this Olympics. Having Poulter start all these matches when she’s not even warming up has cut out a lot of matches where Carlini and Hancock could settle into their roles and develop connections with the hitters. I do think that the US still has the potential to do well. The US has a lot of great pieces and I wouldn’t count them out. But it’s hard seeing them get past the quarterfinals at this point.

This whole quad has been wasteful. 2022 was focused on Frantti 2023 was focused on Lanier/Micha 2024.... none of them are around. He spent 3 years doing who knows what with Cuttino. maybe there's a reason he got a paycut lol
