a kill or block could be subjective (thinking about like on jousts) but in that instance it would still be one or another. Sometimes a "bad set" stat comes into play, which could change a kill/block/ace/dig for sure too. the only stat that I think is for sure black and white is an assist. every other stat could have judgment influenced. oh I hate “bad sets” unless the player wasn’t able to get a real swing on it and/or it falls on their side of the net😭 if the other team is able to play it at all, it should be a kill or block depending on the situation I thought bad sets were mostly call on nets/ other violations. |

oh I hate “bad sets” unless the player wasn’t able to get a real swing on it and/or it falls on their side of the net😭 if the other team is able to play it at all, it should be a kill or block depending on the situation I thought bad sets were mostly call on nets/ other violations. they have a category for block errors and really any violation. bad sets are for doubles and unhittable sets. even when backrow setters go up and end up over the plain of the net, they usually call it an attack error from what I’ve seen |

bad sets are also used when a scorer doesn't want to give an ace. think about a bad pass that is save-able, but, maybe a non-setter takes the 2nd ball and sets a position on the court where nobody is and it doesn't go over. that would be ruled as a bad set.
sometimes what I think should be a bad set or what I think should be an ace is not what the scorers rule.
also, sometimes a laser pass forces a setter to try and push the ball over or gets caught in the net with the ball. sometimes that will be an ace - sometimes an attack error on the setter.
