I debated Ruffin vs Shaffmaster all week and just feel like an idiot now lol For me it's like, where do you draw the line between 1) Recent performance, 2) Match-up potential, and 3) Overall stats. This week, I went heavy on match-up potential and recent performance. I played Elgert the last 2 weeks and she was a fair amount below 2.99 dps. I wasn't going to risk those numbers again as my primary digger, even though her overall stats (including last season) are the best on my team. Then she turns around and gets 6.80 dps.

Onabanjo - I pick you up and you repay me with ONE block? girl i dropped her for a reason Meh.. she was still over a block per set the week you dropped her. And one of the best offensive middles in the country. I'm going to think this was an anomaly.

Getting a block point is such a crapshoot. So many factors go into whether or not the player gets a block point - is the opposing hitter actually swinging at the block, are they swinging low enough for the block to go down, how hard the opposing player is swinging at the ball affects the speed at which the ball is reflected off the block back, where is the block touch landing, does the opposing team cover well… rinse and repeat. I’ve seen matches with many stellar blocks but they didn’t land for a point.

I vividly remember in one of my matches against trojansc last season that Hawaii had a match where Amber probably blocked like half the balls the other team’s outsides swung at and yet next to none actually fell for blocks😭 I mean there were pancake covers, stab covers, everything. it was insane and I ended up losing by like 1-2 blocks

That's probably true. I guess I was just frustrated because she was only contributing in 2 categories during my short stint with her. Some middles will contribute an assist, an ace, or a dig (not that they matter a whole lot, but still), but she was literally only getting only kills and blocks at the time. Assists, aces, and digs were all zeroes. Rooting for her though...

Okay, so I can kind of understand missing a dig because sometimes they're subjective (e.g. a down ball on 3 is basically a free ball, but could be called either way), but missing a block, kill, ace, or assist just doesn't make sense.

Sometimes a "bad set" stat comes into play, which could change a kill/block/ace/dig for sure too. the only stat that I think is for sure black and white is an assist. every other stat could have judgment influenced.
