How weird is it that the US mens and womens team both faced the same opponents in the knock-out rounds? Brazil, Poland, Italy All those countries can say the same, so maybe not that weird.

I am waiting to see Antropova play middle in front-row with Egonu at opposite Instead of Danesi or Fahr?
Given how poorly Orro serves both could be an idea but with Cambi replacing Orro. At this point you can have the libero replace the other MB and an OH, with priority given to the MB. I just want to see them both on court at the same time

That critic can be misleading. They definitely use the local talents. Last season, Hande at Eczacıbaşı, used to play in rotation with Voronkova and Alexa Gray. At Fener, Meliha used to play with Ana Cristina. At Galatasaray, İlkin used to play as ace, first with Logan Eggleston then with Katarina Lazovic, breaking all time records of highest scoring local. Derya spent her last season in Japan and at the end of the season returned Back to Vakıfbank. Except Derya, all others had sufficient time on court, otherwise they could not manage to get in shape. Not only OHs but also MBs had good chances. For example Yasemin Güveli. She was not happy at Eczacıbaşı and her contract had been terminated and joined to Anatolian club Çukurova. There, she managed to become the best blocker of the league. Now she signed with Galatasaray. I cannot judge Santarelli's preference but I could easily invite her to NT. Kübra Akman and many more. From the new generation, there is a girl named Bianka İlayda Mumcular, who I can bet on, will be a great star soon. She is the OH of U20 and signed this year with the new team of Sultanlar, Zeren Spor. The good part of having elite foreigners in the league is, to increase the competition, to give self confidence to locals that, they can play with or against to those elite foreigner players at local and at international tournaments and help them to develop as much as they can. Otherwise, you need to export your players to overseas, particularly to Europe or to Asia, to get experience and face the real competition professionally and that is USA used to do after NCAA, to export talented ones to continents. Now, they are bringing them back to home, along with elite foreigners. As an example, I could easily observe the development of Logan Eggleston's from 1st season in Sultanlar League up to her new endeavour. In Türkiye, she proved that, she can play in OPP position as well, which she never tried in NCAA. In addition to this, her receiving skills had been improved significantly, when compared with NCAA or her 1st season in Türkiye. Overall, USA made a great attempt, which is going to be a win win situation, as it is in Türkiye and Türkiye is happy with having elite foreigner players along with the locals. High level competition at both sides. You’re already talking about 5-6 top players in the league. I’m very well versed with Turkish league. Derya spent years at the bench, as a lot of other players that we don’t talk about right now becuase they don’t play regularly. Having a mix is good but definitely blocking some of the local talent. They can go to other smaller teams in the league and keep playing and improving (like Meryem Boz did when she was young) etc Totally understand your point of view, however I talk generic about locals, since going name by name would need pages here, to go in details. You are 100% correct about poor Derya and so pity that, she will be benched at Vakıfbank, this year as well. This is all about Guidetti, who wants to be on the safe side. He did the same to Alexia (along with good local MBs such as Karmen, İdil and Begüm) last year, as the sub of Jordan Thompson and that is why she will play for GS in starting 6 this year and above mentioned names in other teams. On the other hand, you may find many shining stars, U20 and U23 NT girls and with many elite locals in almost all teams, who mostly will play in starting six in the new season. To cut the long story short, you may check the distribution of all locals+foreigners across teams in the link below and if you feel to continue this discussion, better doing it in that respective thread. A reasonable number of Elite foreigners with highest quality, not only helps to increase the quality of the league, but also helps to increase the talents and the quality of the locals and this is exactly, what USA is aiming to do. volleytalk.proboards.com/thread/98765/turkey-sultanlar-li-gi-2024

I have a good feeling about this final. Plummer helped shut down Egonu in champions league this year. Played against her in practice 1 season? Sylla as well. I’m honestly trying not to think about it or I’ll run out of edibles, and we can’t have that can we.

Yall acting like Egonu’s (still quite good) performance in this CL final wasnt her worst performance in a final in quite some time.
She is going to be a force to be reckoned with.

Now that Brazil has won bronze, here’s my guess for best position awards:
OH: Gabi, Sylla MB: some combo of Ogbogu, Danesi, and Carol S: Poulter OPP: Egonu (or Vargas if Italy wins) L: MDG
MVP: Drews (or Plummer if she has a BIG match) if USA wins, Egonu if Italy wins
USA doesn’t really lead anything statistically besides setting, so Poulter (and maybe Chi) are the most likely to get anything. But who knows that the FIVB/IOC pull 🤪

Too many things to say after the match between Türkiye vs. Brasil but better playing team deserved to win and it was Brasil. Brasil 3 - Türkiye 1. Brasil won the Bronze. Congratulations. Good thing about it is that, the young generation of Türkiye's NT gained an experience with it. Wishing better luck and performance at the next Olympics.

Plummer and Skinner aren’t tops in either attacking percentage nor reception, but they’re still getting it done (#grittynotpretty ??)

no shade Brazil doesn’t really deserve anyone on dream team lol, gabi was horrible against USA and I feel like Chiaka and Danesi have been more impactful than Carol or Thaisa

She was wonderful against Turkey, and she dragged her team to a bronze medal But yeah, Brazil’s stats were really inflated by beating Poland, Japan, and Kenya lol. Poland and Japan really underperformed
