Mama always said, volleyball is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're going to get. Could be something nasty. Your contribution is and was immeasurable. Many thanks. Great to hear that there is replacement plan in place. Would it be correct to say - If Rich.Kern doesn't have a successful transition to someone else after 2025, Pablo isn't going to continue? That we really need both transitions to work. The key features of the relationship between Pablo and RichKern.com are the candlelit dinners and the match scores. I'm guessing there are alternate ways to get them, but none so easy and convenient as RichKern

It seems like this is currently how the database and Pablo system is constructed, but I wouldn't think it would be too difficult to pull scores from the NCAA website instead? Any chance your successor could also take over, and operate, Rich Kern's site? Do you even have any idea of how much time that takes to compile all those results? I asked to apply Pablo for the JuCos about 20+ years ago and was told it would take as much time as for all the DI schools. We did JuCos for a few years. It was hard, though, because of how the season works. Highly regionalized, and not a lot of cross-regionalization until later in the season. Therefore, it was hard to rank teams across regions. On the other hand, there were those who got mad about it because Pablo wasn't supporting their preconceived biases in this regard. I had coaches telling me "oh everyone knows this team is way overrated because they run up gaudy records against terrible competition, but when they come to nationals they suck" (kind of like FAMU used to be, except to an even bigger extreme), and so they'd end getting seeded 8th at nationals and would lose early and everyone is like, "Yep, we told you." Pablo had them ranked something like 3rd, but facing #1 in the first round, and they lost. But after that, they beat everyone they were supposed to beat. In fact, Pablo outperformed the seeding at the JuCo nationals that year. But to be fair, it is hard to handle teams like that. They may have been overrated by Pablo some, but it is clear that coaches had them significantly underrated. In terms of data, I don't remember there being big problems collecting the JuCo scores, at least to the extent I could tell. Lack of data wasn't an issue. The extra time commitment was that big of a deal (it wasn't near as bad as doing beach rankings) because it was different, so fun.

Hey all
Just want you to know that I have been working with a successor to do Pablo. Things are going pretty well, and the new Pablo rankings should be coming out soon. Things could be a little clunky for a couple of weeks as we work out the kinks, but so far, things look to be working out ok. It could be a little slower with the non-D1 rankings for a bit, but hopefully once things are rolling, you won't even know I'm not doing it.
Pablo is in good hands!
