What are the top teams and players in NYS this year?

What are the top teams and players in NYS this year? I can speak mostly about WNY. Going to be a dogfight in Division 2. A lot of parity. Clarence, West Seneca West, Eden, East Aurora probably the top group in D2. In Divison 1 it will be Frontiers to lose, but never count out Orchard Park. Section 5. I’d have to imagine Spencerport and maybe Chuchville? In D2. Fairports to lose in D1, but the usual suspects at the top of the pile. Section 2/3. Shen, CNS, Fayeteville, Jamesville (graduated a lot but will still be solid) Down state sections seem to have more of a carousel of teams in D2. D1? I don’t have a lot of familiarity with the D1 teams down there. Sachem North? |

Sachem North hosted a tournament this weekend which featured some of the most prominent teams on Long Island (Ward Melville, Massapequa, ESM, and Bayshore) as well as Frontier High School from Section VI aka Buffalo area. Don't know how the tournament ended but if I had to guess I would assume ESM won the tournament.

Section 5 is again solid:
In B's Spencerport and Midlakes seem to be at the top.
In A's Penfield and Fairport also are very strong. Penfield beat Fairport in 3 at the Eden tournament and then turned around and beat them in 5 at Penfield. Both are very deep.

In Section V, Penfield beat Fairport in the finals and will play the winner of Frontier/Lockport (D1).
Spencerport beats Churchville in the final of D2.

The NYS Boys Volleyball Championship is this Saturday (11/23) at the Albany Capital Center
D1 D2
Shen (Section II) Jamesville—DeWitt (Section III)
Penfield (Section V) Clarence (Section VI)
Ward Melville (Section XI) ESM (Section XI)
D1: Shen and Ward Melville look to avenge their defeat at last year's state championship, while Penfield looks to win their fourth championship in nine years. Shen and Penfield both had easy wins in their respective regional championships; Ward Melville defeated Section VIII champion Massapequa in a tight five-set affair in the LI championship to reach the state championship pool, hoping to bring back its first-ever state championship.
D2: Undefeated Jamesville—DeWitt comes into this championship pool looking to repeat as state champions and will face off against another undefeated opponent in ESM. ESM has only dropped one set this entire season, while Clarence's only loss this season was a non-league game to MMHSAA champion St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute.
