Reading through the discussions surrounding the new AAU rule led me to become curious, what areas of the country are considered volleyball hotbeds on the boys side? Is there a difference between strong club and high school states? What are the best cities/areas to be in if your a kid dreaming of going d1 in boy volleyball?
Sorry if this is a dumb question btw

I think it is interesting. I would go out and argue to say Chicago has the greatest number of clubs within a 300 mile distance.. That includes cities like Indianapolis, Cincy, Louisville, St. Louis, Milwaukee.
LA within the same distance leaves out key cities like Phoenix and San Fran, however there are so many clubs in the SoCal area.
The New England area I’m sure within that same distance has a few.
But the hot beds are pretty spread out, then some major cold spots in the country.
Key hotbeds in girls that you don’t have in boys is obviously the Great Lakes region of Madison, Minneapolis. Texas is huge in girls, non existent in boys. Same with Kansas City.

Those 3 states by the numbers seem to be strong volleyball hot spots in terms of participation but I almost never see them discussed when talking about boys volleyball

Volleyball has become popular with boys in FL. Some good talent coming out. Still has room to grow however.

The good news is if you're a good enough player Bay to Bay will pay for you to fly out and play for them!

Sorry if this is a dumb question btw Strong club and strong HS teams in SoCal do tend to go hand in hand. Top Southern California clubs are centered along the beach cities, with Orange County's most top to bottom consistent clubs being Newport Beach (Balboa) and Long Beach (Pinnacle AC), while LA is MB Surf and Rockstar, and San Diego has Coast and Wave as top clubs. You can look at the SoCal Cup standings and look for trends and hot teams. socalcupvolleyball.com/ You can find specific results for SoCal Cup tournaments on sports engine. There are many notable clubs that often have one particularly good class come through as well The top high schools in California you can find in the California Interscholastic Federation website www.cifstate.org/sports/boys_volleyball/past_records_results/indexTop HS teams tend to be the Newport Beach Schools, Huntington Beach Schools, Hermosa Beach, Manhattan Beach, Del Mar and Torrey Pines plus the Catholic Schools.

I had some HS players end up out of state for club opportunities and I completely agreed with their decisions…but Cali is a LONG flight for anyone on East Coast 😂!
